I'm 21 with my 2nd pacemaker

I've have my pacemaker since 2001 it's been almost 11years. I haven't been able to go to the doctor and get a check up for a new pacemaker because I have no insurance nor the money for the cost. My heart has been fluttering more than usual and I get light headed. Is this normal since the battery might be running out or could it be something else wrong with me?

Could Be...

After 11 years, I would say, Yes - it very well could be the battery. The pacemakers have a built in safety feature that locks your pacemaker in on a slow, steady rate when the battery dies (or is getting close). This slow, steady rate will definitely make you feel uneasy and light headed, because the pacemaker will not rise at all. It will make something as simple as getting off the couch, walking around the house, or going a flight of steps kind of difficult. Good luck.

Battery Checks

Jenny,
Do you get battery checks ? I get battery checks and the tech will know when the battery is running low. My made a weird sound that I actually heard when my battery check was being done. Also, some hospitals do charity care, people with no insurance or go to the ER. Hospitals cannot turn people away. Not that you need to go, but if you feel more comfortable. Check online for hospitals. My lightheadness is because I have low blood pressure, so I have to watch.

You know you're wired when...

You take technology to heart.
