On December 28th of 2011 I had a PM put in due to Bradycardia, Heart Block. Since then I have bee learning how to live with the PM. Recently I have noticed (in multiple houses) when the furnace starts blowing warm air that I feel a tightness in my chest. I feel that tightness in my chest around other electrical items also, but none of them are warned against in the brochure. Is my PM too sensitive? Can that be adjusted? Or do we feel electric items around us and have to move away and find more comfortable locations all the time? I am all out of sick time from work and can't afford any down time. Can I get this adjusted without surgery?

Pookie might be right on that the heat is making your heart work harder but you also say that round other electrical devices you feel the same thing? What kind of symptoms do you feel around electrical devices? Now don't get me wrong because we've all been there...but after getting a pacemaker we are all more aware of our heart and what it is doing. When I first got mine, I was checking my pulse all the time....and if I felt anything different it would put me into a high state of anxiety. People on here were terrific and would calm me right down...(-: Could you be a little anxious and anything you feel you blame the pacer and your heart? Just a thought and please don't take offense at my comment because those feelings are normal for some people right after getting a pacer. Try to not think about it so much (I know easier said than done, right?)....and have faith that your little pacer is watching your heart so you don't have to. (-: Sue

but perhaps the warm air is making your heart work harder. I know in the summer, when I'm outside, I can feel my heart working harder.
Matter of fact, during the summer we always get a few questions asking if anyone has noticed that they feel like they have less energy.
What other electrical devices or items gives you this feeling?
I don't know if there is a particular setting that can fix this for you, but it wouldn't hurt to ask whoever gave you your pacemaker. Some of us, for whatever reason, are just more sensitive to our pacemakers....I think there may be an adjustment for that.
I hope other members will comment on your question.
If it continues, personally: I'd call and ask to have your pacemaker interrogated and see if they can make any adjustments so you won't have this feeling.
Good luck & keep us posted,
Pookie
