Concerned about having first mammogram post-pacemaker inserted in July. Wonder if anyone had complications following mammogram, i.e, damaged leads, etc. Any insight appreciated

16 days after my first complaint to my cardiologist, I'm getting my pacer interrogated. Whoo-hoo.
Those of you that are blessed with great doctors, or who live in big cities with a plethora of choices- be glad for it. It's not like that everywhere.

hi there, just thought I would post that my PM is no trouble at all only used under 10% and been in for 5 mnths. The problem is still AF which has started to recur more often and not reacting to Flecanaide. I had a cardioversion this week which left me in bed for 5 days with a flu, weakened immune system I suppose. A week off work. I am now booked in for a second ablation on July 11th. I just trust the medical people and do as they suggest. It would be lovely to be problem free.

My father went in on May 15 to have a pacemaker put in because he had a few drops in his heartrate. He had a history of bypass and stents but a catherization done six weeks prior to the pacemaker showed his arteries were clear. He had the procedure done, was in recovery and doing well and suddenly suffered a massive heart attack from which he never recovered. He died on May 17. I apologize if this post is disturbing to those of you with pacemakers but I am desperately trying to find some ans...

Hey, I am new to this site and have had a pacemaker since I was 3 months old. I am 15 years now and had a replacement 2 years ago in 2010.
Although lately I have been feeling quite dizzy. When I wake up I just feel oozy, like my head is sort of spinning. Sort of like when you get up really fast and all the blood rushes. But get it when I’m randomly walking or stationary. I feel completley weird and then when its gone (lasts for about 2 seconds or so) I just feel...

My first St Jude pacemaker was installed in Jun 2007 - No problems till beginning of this year when I started having pain in PM site. The pain got severe and I was given pain medication till they replaced the unit in March. Again no problems till recently. Same pain starting again.
The surgeon said the leads were recalled but they didn’t change them because it is a serious operation and no one else complained of pain associated with them. The 2007 leads are...

My pacemaker is set at 60, I guess it is the lower limit. My lifestyle requires me to be active and hence my doctor has advised me to change it to 72. Can anyone explain what that means?
Does that mean that my pacemaker starts acting when my heart rate goes below 72 instead of kicking in at 60 which happened earlier? I am slightly confused about the whole issue. Should I go for the operation? Will it be a major surgery?

Hi fellow members. Any advice?
My PM inserted 3yrs ago has up to now been successful,, with little or no pain in the area. However, following a moderately heavy day yesterday gardening, which I love, I have suffered intermittent pain in the PM site. I have kept away from any effort today, but am still getting soreness and discomfort. Am i worrying unnecessarily, and can i expect this to subside in a few days? Anyone out there who has had a similar experience? I would love to hear from...

I first would like to say that I am so happy I found this site. To me it is such a life saver. I went back to my heart doctor today.I didn't see my doctor just the NP. Running a low grade temp as well as site being really tender. The site is still hot to touch. She seemed to think it was just inflamed. The swelling goes up my neck.Gave me celebrex for the swelling. She didn't seem real worried about the temp. Anyone else have this problem?

I was born with a heart condition (hole in my heart). My heart was damaged when I was 18 months old when the doctor repaired the hole. This caused me to have a total heart block at which time a pacemaker was inserted but the battery pack was outside of my body. After several weeks the pacemaker was implanted inside the skin in the lower left abdomen. I had many pacemaker malfunctions, wires breaking, corroding, and getting short. I had temporary pacemakers at least 7 and many permanent pac...

I've experienced problems with my second implant. Things haven't been quite the same since atrial flutter and my raging pain in the "A" junctional rhythm decided to compete with my 100% atrial paced rhythm. We've "tweaked" my pacer as much as possible, so they say, without my junctional getting all rowled up and showing it's crazy face. Needless to say, I've got issues.
For starters:
My pacer's underneath the muscle in the crook of my armpit. It's crazy sensitive since they place...

Hello Everyone, I have a problem that doesn't seem serious but has me a little concerned. I have what seems like acne around my PM incision--There's no itching or breakage but the bumps are very close to the incision. I would appreciate any input anyone could give for the reason for this problem. I hope I'm not allergic to the PM or leads. Thanks, Jane

I received my 3rd implant on 5/8/12. (My first pacer was installed in 1998.) All was textbook until 5/10 when I began having double beats - my heart was beating in doubles: 1,2....1,2....1,2.... and then would fall back into sinus rythmn.
I went in for pacer check on 5/11. Checked pacer, not leads; was told pacer was working as it should and the double beats probably was from the pacer beating over my natural heart beat (per pacer tech). Still not feeling right.
On 5/1...

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help with my last problem. I was having problems with my pm site getting hot. Went to the ER and they said I didn't have an infection. However the site is still getting hot. My cardio said it will go away with time. My regular doctor thinks the pacemaker will have to come out he has told me not to go to far from home because he is worried that it will have to come out soon. My regular doctor has tried to set me up with a different cardio doctor but nobod...

I had my PM implanted in about August last year and had some initial hassles with max rate issues which I discussed in these forums (and got some great advice).
I was awarded the PM for 3rd degree AV block (bradycardia) and now occasionally pace for 1st, 2nd or 3rd degree block. The cause who knows? Possibly hereditary (both parents have ischemic heart disease although issues did not develop till late 70s - no PM tho - and Im late 40s). Its also possibly linked to the Radiother...

I am posting this on behalf of my Dad and also myself cos' i a m so worried about him. He has had a medtronic dual chamber fitted back in december last year after suffering myocarditis 5 yrs ago and his heart function has slowly got worse even tho he was on meds. Initially he showed quite a good response to the pm fitment for a couple of months but has since gone down alarmingly to the point where yesterday 10 paces was leaving him very breathless. He was admitted to hospital last weekend as he h...

7months ago I had a triple bypass, Maze procedure and defib/pacemaker installed. The afib seems to be pretty much alleviated and I feel generally fine. However, I bought another motorcycle 2 weeks ago and whenever I ride I get this sensation in the base of my throat similar to the feeling that used to attend a fib attacks. It begins as soon as I start riding and lasts for the duration of a ride. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it could be electromotive interference from the alterna...
