Mammograms

Concerned about having first mammogram post-pacemaker inserted in July. Wonder if anyone had complications following mammogram, i.e, damaged leads, etc. Any insight appreciated

Mammo

I had no problems. Let your technician know you have a pm and its location before you start. Your leads are implanted into a deep vein and will not be affected by the squeezing. My technician was especially gentle with my left breast even though the pm is situated several inches above under my collarbone. Think how important early diagnosis of breast cancer is.

My mammo is coming up

I have had a pm for two months now and I am due for a mammo in Sept. I had asked my EP about it and he said just to let them know you have a pm and it'll be ok.

So that's whAt I plan to do.

I'm interested what other members have to say about it

uneventful

Mine isn't high under the collarbone, it's low and under the breast... still no problems with mammos. The first time they did a quick gentle scan of the left side so they could see exactly where the wires and pm are. I go to the same place and they're digital, so they always refer to that first now.

No problem

They go a little slower when they go in for the "squeeze", LOL. They are pretty careful.

Interesting you should ask today

as I just had my annual mammo this AM. No problems. Talked to the tech & she said mine was in a good place-high up near my collar bone. She said the gals who have the most trouble (discomfort) were those that were thin & PM sticks out a little (not my problem as well padded) & those with a shorter space between neck & waist. So the longer that space seems to help. I expect most of us gals have no or little problems. This is my 12th since PM put in & hope it continues to be negative. Hope this helps.
