This has been a sad week for pacemakerclub members in regard to losing members. I also experienced an unexpected loss when my husband of 44 years collapsed and suddenly died today. There are no words to describe the pain of this. I was the one with the heart problems...not him. I guess we never know what lies ahead for us.
Please hug those close to you and express your love for them. And don't take anything for granted!!!
Love you,
Suze
In Peter's honor, my story
After allowing myself some time to get over the devastating shock of loosing such a friend, I feel the need to express my feelings.
Peter Nash and I were very good friends. We met here at the Pacemaker Club after I had my PM implanted in Feb. of 2005. He and I began to chat here and it didnt take long to see we had a lot in common. We soon became great friends.
Peter invited my husband and I to come to England for a visit in May of 2007. Oh my! the planning of the trip!! We ha...

My PM was implanted 5-24-2007 and have had little or no problems other than learning to cope with the PM. The last few days I have been experiencing tiredness and one or two times a quick dizziness. I had an appointment with my EP and mentioned this to him and he assured me the PM was doing great and the settings were fine. I have extreme anxiety and panic that I have had for many years. He stated that the above were due to the anxiety. Should I contact my Technician and see if maybe I nee...
Week 2 post implant - napping
Hi everyone,
It's now 12 days post PM implant for my Dad (68) and I just wonder if anyone has advice on this.
Late evening (between 9 and 11 pm) when TV is on, a wave of tiredness will hit him and he has to put down his newspaper and nap for 5/10 mins. (His symptoms pre PM were episodes of fainting/collapsing). It's normal sleeping but it seems to hit him quite quickly.
Is this because the PM is having to kick in and he's only functioning at his resting HR (60)....
Newbie daughter - what lies ahead
Hi everyone,
My Dad (68) collapsed one morning in January for about 30 seconds. He was taken into hospital for 2 days of tests but nothing was found.
Last Tuesday he had 4 'episodes' throughout the day; first a weakness, then about 10 seconds of unconsciousness (with his eyes open - I thought it was a stroke), then a collapse for about 30 seconds at which point we called his GP. We were going to wait to go to the ER until the next morning but he lost consciousness (not nor...

I've been pretty depressed today, I'm not sure why. It's been a beautiful day and I spent most of it on the seafront with my friends and their month-old baby daughter. But my heart has continued to skip and the PM doesn't seem to kick in as often as it should. While I was watching TV about an hour ago it skipped several times and I felt quite dizzy. My life since July last year has been pretty hellish, with the uncertainty surrounding my heart condition, as it's only recently been properly diagn...

Hi all, I am a 32 yr year old female with a new pacemaker. i died on January 2nd, coded three times and recived a brand new security blanket in the form of a dual lead pacemaker. I used to be incredibly active and am a type A personality, but i'm really having a hard time coming to the realization that i'm not superwoman. How do I change my whole life? Even now, my dr says slow down, slow down, slow down, and i really don't want to! I had a life! Now i have stress from worrying about wheth...
6 weeks post op....wondering about the recovery of a "side insertion" and any possible problems that might come from having this done?
Hi....
I'm 24 and have just received my 1st pacemaker, for Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I have been fainting regularly for the past 6 years, and after many years of tests, and different cardiologists i have hit last resort and now have a permanent pacemaker.
My surgery was also a little different to normal. I have two incisions, the top one for the leads, and a side one for the pacemaker - between my underarm and my breast. The pacemaker itself is above my 9th rib, and is total...

Clothes
Just had my pacemaker implanted on 3/5/2009. What I am wondering is how noticeable this thing will be when summer comes around and I want to wear a sundress with thin straps or a tank top? I am not so worried about a slight scar, but more about the bump.

The realization of not being able to go back to work is I guess finally sinking in and hitting pretty hard, I have been feeling a bit down for the last few days, yesterday went outside to pick up a few sticks off the ground and could not believe I got winded, I went back in the house and was so depressed thinking that this happened. Naps are Very Short Now....
I'm 4 wks post pm surgery, dual pacemaker for heart pauses.
My low is set for 60 BPM. I normally have very low blood pressure, esp while sleeping.
I notice when I do get tired and need a nap, I can only nap for 15 or 20 mins. Usually my naps would be at least 40 minutes.
Anyone else experience sleep being interupted at night or during naps since having a pm?
Thanks for all your support these past 4 weeks. I feel much better and not so worried any longer.

Hello I am 20 years old and just had my PM put in on Feb. 27. I am still very sore today which I kind of expected. I was just wondering how long it took for the soreness to go away. Also, sometimes I get this strange feeling almost like a current crawling across my PM site and a slight sting. Is this normal? I am sure I am just being paranoid but any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hi, I am 53 and have been told in the last few weeks that I am more than likely going to have to have a pacemaker fitted in the future, it is for me to decide. I was diagnosed with Meniers Disease approx. 10 years ago which causes me to feel very lightheaded, sometimes for weeks on end. I take Serc 8 as and when required. However, back in October I fainted, for no reason at all. Since then everything has gone pear shaped. It turns out that I have a very slow pulse, 40 at worst and 61 at bes...

I discovered I have a coffee table....it was buried under a foot of stuff and and inch of dust! I found myself picking up some things and putting them away. Before I knew it, I had cleaned my kitchen and cleaned off my coffee table....Is this normal????
I know it is...but what I'm trying to say is that I had my AV Node Ablation on Wednesday and all of a sudden without realizing it, I'm doing normal stuff around my house...you know, doing what healthy people do without giving it a...
