Hi there
I had a medtronic mri compatable pacemaker fitted may 2012 due to 2nd degree heartblock. I have never felt ok since it was fitted and various problems have come up. The first problem was my heartrate was going too high 167 when sitting down this was found out about 4 weeks after the fitting and beta blockers were given to sort that out. A reason for the high heart rate was never given but I do wonder if the pacemaker is causing this as I never suffered from this before. At my 6...

I am 46 years old and had a pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago, and still am not up to par. I can only work about 4 hours a day until I wear out. I had 2 previous SA node modifications. The last one was 4 years ago. My doctor said it will take time. I read about how much energy people have after, I think they forgot to put energy in my unit....how long will it take before I'm up to speed?

I saw my EP yesterday to follow up on progress. I had a bi -ventricular PM installed on 7/30/12.
I'm on Coreg and Multaq.
Doc says that my heart is "happy"! Echo showed good results. He is confused as to why I don't feel good half the time. I have spells where I feel tired and my head feels thick and woozy. My heart pounds like its coming out of my chest. I have to lie down and eventually, I feel better.
The EP has no answer for me. Just shrugs his shoulders and sha...

Hi:
I'm due to see the cardio Dr & also have my device checked (or interrogated) next week.
Any advice on how to discuss the topic of whether my settings are right for me when I see the Dr.?
I really don't know, but from what I read at this site, it sounds like a settings adjustment is / can be helpful in eliminating discomfort . What is the risk of getting new settings that might be more uncomfortable???
It has been over 6 months since I received...

20 yr old with complete heart block. Have a dual chamber PM. Have an underlining rhythm. Not dependant on PM but it paces all the time because my heart rate is too slow 40's. Been getting chest pains lasting a few seconds all over the chest. Heavy feeling in chest. Went to ER , they found nothing wrong. PM working as it should. But heart rate has been elevated around 100's. Doctors dont know why this is happening. Done three blood tests, urine test , chest xray all were fine. But still...

In 8/12, I had a pacemaker implanted due to bradycardia . For the last 16 years, I have been taking coumadin due to an artificial aortic valve. My coumadin level for many years was stable with 41 mg. per week. Since pacemaker surgery, my INR has skyrocketed to over 4.0 despite dropping coumadin to 35 mg. per week. Is there any connection? Is this usual? Am I in unknown territory? I can't seem to find anything on the internet.

hello to all & thank you in advance.
I'm wondering if anyone suffers from blkots AFTER having a PM? I've had mine for two yrs now. I suffer dizzy spells, low-bp, and frequent a-fibs.
Now, I'm having mini-blackouts. It's bad, cause I've been driving when I had 2, which I drove off into the left-hand ditch! And 1 'grey-out' also while driving! Which I watched as a curve approached & I could not move!
God blessed me each time with a save recovery....no acciden...

It seems I am having some problems while riding after the waiting period--been 6 weeks since pacemaker implant.
When I ride--get real tight from elblow across back to other elbow and sharp pain in center of back after about 4 miles--goes away when I get off of the bike--Harley 2006 Road King Custom.
Anyone had that problem?
I would appreciate your input!!
thanks
Richard

Hi all,
Im very new to this site. I just had my pacemaker implanted at the end of July this year. It has been a very very traumatic experience for me (I'm 33 and had a massive heart tumour I knew nothing about). Anyway, I went for my 6 week check up and told them the site was so itchy. The RN freaked out and told me not to itch it. I told her I just rub it gently and she said that can cause twiddlers syndrome and cause the leads at the unit to pull out.
Well....now I'm freaked...

Hello,
I got a pacemaker 8 days ago. I'm experiencing rather debilitating nerve pain in my neck and shoulder. The site of the surgery is healing nicely and not painful, but the nerve pain is keeping me from being able to sleep. If I lie on my right side it is better, though still unnerving (I'm a back sleeper), and if I lie on my back it is unbearable. The drugs that the doc gave me do little or nothing to help with this pain.
I really need to sleep... please help.

I am 50 year old with history of blockages and leaking valves, I have had for mini storkes over the past year and one severe stroke while in the hospital. I had a two lead pace maker implanted and the leads had to be ran through the shoulder and the armpit do to crodic fatty tumors. Since July 17th 2012 when this was put in until now I have always felt the charge or ark of the pacemaker. For the past two days it has been much worse and I feel heart pain like when you going down in a roller coast...

Hi There,
So glad to find this website. Feels like a weight off my shoulders reading everyone's stories.
I have had my pacemaker since march 2010 and have had issues exercising ever since. My heart seems to flutter and become irregular when pushing hard on a run or cycle (mostly up hills). This leads to slight dizziness and a tight chest/lack of breath and a clear feeling of a flutter in my heart.
I've kept a diary for the last 6 months noting when it happens. T...

Hello, my names Kait. I'm 15 years old. I had my very first pacemaker implanted at the young age of 2 days old. I've never had any problems with it that I can recall. This past weekend I was playing soccer with my team when I noticed that my heartbeat was iragular. It would go fast, then slow down and go fast again. It's happened before but never as bad. My father took me to the hospital and it turns out I have an arrhythmia. They put me to sleep to do the "paddles" being almost 100% Possitive i...
