When will I feel better?

I am 46 years old and had a pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago, and still am not up to par. I can only work about 4 hours a day until I wear out. I had 2 previous SA node modifications. The last one was 4 years ago. My doctor said it will take time. I read about how much energy people have after, I think they forgot to put energy in my unit....how long will it take before I'm up to speed?

You might want to be more patient,2 weeks isnt long in my opinion.I honestly can say it took me 6 weeks(about to the day) to get back alot of the old me.
Im 49,and thats just how it was for me,and I was in shape, and very active prior to,this was not planned for me at all.
Im now at 3 months, and am feeling about back to normal,I think you just need to give yourself more time, its a big change, mentally and physically.
Were all different,so Im sure the healing is different, take it slow......you have the time!

PATIENCE & GRATITUDES ~ ~ ~

Each person reacts differently to any type of 'surgery' and/or implant in your body.

Please listen to your own body and do what it tells you ~ plenty of rest, no lifting, no raising arm(s) above incision, no arm sling on the arm (due to the possible' freeze' of the elbow, etc. causing Xtensive rehab/recuup )~

I think it took me, off/on and good days & bad days to get back to 'normal' about 6 wks. ~ whatever 'normal' may be to each one of us. Every few days were a lil' better than the day before ~ SMILE ~

Pain meds?

by kermiehiho - 2012-10-07 06:10:19

Are you on any pain meds due to the pm implantation? For the first month or so, I would start falling asleep while working at home after only a couple hours, and end up taking like a four hour nap. AND I would sleep normally at night. I thought this was really weird until I realized I'd been taking pain meds. It's a gradual process, and I can't remember when I stopped being so tired, but it does go back to normal over time.

I want to thank each of you for the encouraging words. I have known I have needed the pm for about 4 years. I am not on any pain meds or anything like that. My doc told me this week that since my organs are not used to "normal" blood flow since I was not pumping at full capacity for so long it will just take time. I have made peace with that. Seriously, I am not a blog kinda person but you all have been so kind and just knowing I'm not the only one like this gives me great comfort.
