Thanks for you reply,

Well, I just began to query any type of metal allergy... so a nickel allergy may be a possibility, I also have celiacs and originally my doctor thought that possibly I was having a topical reaction to gluten, but after two months of extremely carefull topical gluten patrolling, nothing has changed, with your son.... did this allergy develope suddenly? Thanks for your reply,

Have you considered a nickel allergy?

What you are describing sounds exactly like what my son has and it turned out to be an allergy to nickel. Even coins would make his hands break out and peel into cracks and fissures.

Just a thought and hope it helps.
Best to you,

Yes,...,my son's allergy developed suddenly when he started his job surveying. One of the instruments he had to use had a nickle knob on it and he would have to twist it in his palm.
In the winter, when he had gloves on, the peeling and skin cracking would go away.

He finally was tested, it was found to be nickel, and he avoided that instrument or just wore his gloves.

He's never had a problem since.

Hope this helps. I found that nickel allergy is very common.
GOOD LUCK.
