It seems I am having some problems while riding after the waiting period--been 6 weeks since pacemaker implant.
When I ride--get real tight from elblow across back to other elbow and sharp pain in center of back after about 4 miles--goes away when I get off of the bike--Harley 2006 Road King Custom.
Anyone had that problem?
I would appreciate your input!!
thanks
Richard

somewhat different

My symptoms are very specific--when I ride post PaceMaker, I get sever tightness in upper arm across back to other upper arm with sharp pain in the center of my back between shoulder blades--is quite debilitating and begins within the first 4 miles of a ride and I have to stop and return home after a rest--all this stops when I get off the bike
Confused--docs have no answer either and PM records nothing unusual??

Another possibility

If you were out or heavily sedated during the implant it's not unusual to have your body put in stressful positions for their convenience. We've had multiple questions on the forum about why folks have headaches, chest pain, shoulder pain, and a variety of other symptoms. The docs never have any idea why. During my surgery I chose to stay totally awake with no sedatives. I insisted on their making me comfortable before starting with head, neck, and shoulder support from pillows. Then during the procedure someone in OR decided my chest would be a good elbow rest.
I can easily see how I could have had some unexplained pain if I had been out and unaware.

Soreness from riding

The most likely thing is that after 6 weeks plus any off time before getting the pacer can leave you a bit out of shape. Depending on the bike and the setup as far as riding posture you may just need to work up to it.
Like Tracey mentioned doing some stretching may help as well. Particularly rotating the arm you kept down during the 6 weeks would be a good idea.
From comments here I'm beginning to realize I saved myself a lot of soreness by ignoring all the standard instructions and just being reasonable. I was back bouncing around the desert in my Jeep within a week, and never had any problems.

At a guess, I'd say it was the vibration of the bike and you just need to give it some more time. I felt pretty good by 6 weeks but a bumpy boat ride had me sore. We hold back and don't move as much as we usually do the first few weeks, it just takes time to get completely back to normal. Stretching may help.
