Milk

Ok this isn't a post about my pacemaker but about milk. I know wierd huh. I have an artifial aortic valve and I love milk. I was told by the Nurse practioner that I can't have whle milk just 2% but not every day beacause it will do something with my cholesterol and it could cause blood clots. I have no idea how all that works but I said ok. I haven't had a lot of milk since my surgery. Well then My wife got my to try a starbucks moka frappuccino and I absolutley loved it...

electric recliner chair

I just received a Medtronic pacemaker in January 2023. Not thinking about my Pacemaker, I bought an electric ZGR chair from Svago for my husband  who just had back surgery. I'm not certain I'd be safe from the electro-magnetic field. Does anyone have information?  What should I ask the Svago chair company to be sure I'm safe?

I get my pacemaker on Friday

I'm a 59 year old man who has had a slow heart rate for many years.  I've been mostly asymptomatic until November, when I developed periods of lightheadedness and dizziness.  I began to associate these with a low heart rate.  After a 30 day monitor it shows my heart rate is generally slow and won't increase very well.

I am hopeful this helps me, as my symptoms are getting more severe and frequent.  I've not lost conciousness yet, but I've cer...

Welding

Due to a recent inquiry about battery impact tools and comments about welding; I'd like to ask the "floor" about any personal experience they've had with a MIG or TIG -- might as well throw in STICK also.
Not interested in "Google searches" cause I can do that.
Welding-- Life or Death. LOL🤔

Father

Hello all,

first of all I have a confession. It is my father who has the pacemeaker and not myself.

I am on this forum just trying to find out some answers, about lifeafter having a pacemaker fitted.

We have heard stories about people noticing the improvement straight away after having a pacemaker fitted so I guess thats what we were hoping for but to be honest 4 weeks post implant and he is just the same.

Another confession is he is 89 years old so we may have been ex...

Good news

I had a cardiology appointment yesterday after an annual scan two months ago.
I was delighted when the Cardiologist said that my ejection fraction was 65%! Nearly 3 years ago my EF was around 35% after my dual lead pacemaker caused LVSD and then I had to have a CRT pacemaker.
I still have moderate Mitral valve regurgitation but it has remained the same since last year's scan.

I have been feeling well since two leads were replaced nearly a year ago. Fingers cross...

OK Everybody It's FG Again

I know there have been some delays and false starts over the last several months....

But I am now getting a dual chamber PM tomorrow morning. Medtronic with an atrial lead and a 3830 LBB area ventricular lead, to be put into the septum just below the HIS bundle. To review, I have persistant AF but I am always bradycardic due to complete 3rd degree heart block. I never get tachycardia or syncope. I have a stable junctional escape rhythm. My exercise tolerance is...

Housekeeping

I don't put my moderator hat on very often but a few things to keep in mind to avoid clutter and misinformation.

If you have multiple things to say that are the same topic, please continue them as comments under the original post rather than multiple posts so it doesn't take over the feed.

If you don't know the answer, please let someone who does know the answer respond rather than googling. I understand the desire to be helpful, but there is a lot of misin...

Apple smart phone app monitor

Had my first device check yesterday and rather than getting a Medtronic bed side unit for monitoring, got set up with a Medtronic app on my Apple smart phone 14.

I have previously charged it at night downstairs, but now need to do it by my bed for Medtronic night time readings.

Since it's an iPhone 14, it charges on a round magnetic disk rather than a plug in cable. How close to my nightly sleeping position should I keep it charging on the magnetic charging disk...

New Pacemaker

Had my new Pacemaker implanted very recently on March 8, 2023, and if I felt any better right now I wouldn't know what to do. Was told my Pacemaker would last for 10 years but about to turn 87 years old on July 16 I am not sure that I will be around in 10 years but who knows?

An update to my original post: I stated I had a new Pacemaker implanted on 3/8/2023 but saying this was a new PM this makes you think I replaced another PM implanted in me but that is incorrect.

The PM im...

Atrial tachycardia with sudden termination

My saga continues! Lol

I have wound up with another 14 day monitor. I was being seen in my EP clinic the other day and could feel I was having some kind of arrhythmia in the waiting room, which I've been feeling somewhat frequently lately. Nothing too major, but I was definitely feeling it. Once he came in and was at the machine, he watched my heart rate drop immediately from 130s to 80.

I realize the rate wasn't anything substantial, but would that drop cause p...

Butterflies and gurgles

Hi all. 5 years dual paced. Medtronic. Having butterflies and gurgles about four inches below pacemaker on left side, particularly when I breath out.  Not painful but also not comfortable. Pain becomes like a stitch you get when you run.  Any ideas?

Apple Watch

I don't know if others saw this but evidently there is a good chance that Apple watch imports will be banned. There is an FTC patent infringement investigation. Apple is accused of using AliveCor's intellectual property in its heart monitor. There is a lot of wiggling going on in the background but there is some chance that it will hold. Get your Apple watches now, before there is a run on them. 🥲

Newbee

Hello folks... I'm a 67 year male in pretty good physical condition, and recently ... this past Tuesday.. 3/14/23 had my PM implanted. A Medtronic device.

I always had a slower than normal heart rate 48-55 most of my life. I guess getting older finally caught up with me and the symptoms associated with bradycardia set in.

it has been only two days ... I do feel better... my energy seems to be coming back.. BUT... I do experience waves of ligh...

Anxious

I'm set to receive my pacemaker in a couple weeks.  I just underwent a six-hour ablation procedure that was just unsuccessful.  They told me my heart has so much cardiomyopathy there just isn't anything else to do.

im scared. I'm 51 and have been dealing with heart disease since my early 20's.  I feel really close to death.  Is this normal?  I don't know how I'm supposed to feel.  What happens if pacemaker doesn't work for me eit...

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
