Housekeeping

I don't put my moderator hat on very often but a few things to keep in mind to avoid clutter and misinformation.

If you have multiple things to say that are the same topic, please continue them as comments under the original post rather than multiple posts so it doesn't take over the feed.

If you don't know the answer, please let someone who does know the answer respond rather than googling. I understand the desire to be helpful, but there is a lot of misinformation out there. If you post a link, please make sure it's a reputable site such as NIH, Cleveland, Medtronic, etc.

If you aren't able to respond to your own post, check to see if you got logged out. The top right of your screen will say LOGIN rather than LOGOUT. If you log in again and go back to your post, the comment button should reappear. If I'm writing a long response, I copy it to my clipboard before hitting post. This way if I got logged out while writing, I don't lose my comment and have to start over again. I can log in, paste the comment and post.

The search feature is easy to overlook. It's that teensy tiny magnifying glass in the upper right corner. If you have a basic question it's ok to ask it, but if you do a quick search first you'll probably find lots of previous discussions.

Always respond with kindness and respect.

Was getting very tired/frustrated reading the same question/comment over and over.

Thank you, Tracey, for the timely reminder.  Much appreciated.

I completely agree with new to pace and docklock.  Time to  move on.

Oh you have been busy Tracey with the housekeeping

Thank you Tracey.  Your post was a timely reminder for us all to be respectful when we post and not to overwhelm the home page with too much information at any one time.  There will be plenty of time to ask new questions/give personal opinions along the way, since our pacemakers are for life and we cannot change everything over night.

Another point I would like to make is that a message should ideally, whenever possible (and I am guilty of long messages too) be kept to a reasonable length since a long long message with too many questions, will often be difficult to respond to.

I wish though, like on Facebook, when we added a comment, the message would automatically be bumped to the top of the home page.  I know this causes some members a bit of frustration since their original message, or a message they are responding to, may get buried quickly which is probably why some of us feel the need to keep re-posting.

Most recent comments at the top is on my wish list, too! How I handle it... I start with Recent Messages and look for anything new. Then I go to my comments (my name at the top left, comment tab) and click through those.
