New Pacemaker

Had my new Pacemaker implanted very recently on March 8, 2023, and if I felt any better right now I wouldn't know what to do. Was told my Pacemaker would last for 10 years but about to turn 87 years old on July 16 I am not sure that I will be around in 10 years but who knows?

An update to my original post: I stated I had a new Pacemaker implanted on 3/8/2023 but saying this was a new PM this makes you think I replaced another PM implanted in me but that is incorrect.

The PM implanted in me on 3/8/2023 was my first PM implant and this is an update of my Pacemaker adventure. I had a Loop recorder implanted back in June 2022 and nightly monitoring of this I'm sure figured into the decision of my Cardiologist on 2/24/2023 to let me know it was time to implant a PM.

The procedure to unplant the Loop Recorder and implant the PM only took 50 minutes and the only glitch of the day of the procedure was when I was wheeled out of recovery of the 2nd floor of the hospital and headed up to a bed on the 9th floor to spend the night being monitored.

As the elevator started up with me and my volunteer worker aboard it stalled between the 4th and 5th floor and my volunteer, Hanna, and me spent over an hour on the elevator waiting to be rescued from this stalled elevator. We developed a friendship during this time, haha.

I was released the next morning at 11:15 am and 6 days later my incision was completely healed and when the assistant of my Cardiologist checked me out he stated I didn't even need a bandage on the incision. I was instructed to lay low for 4 weeks after the surgery and stay away from my volunteer duties at the Veterans Memorial.

I am following these instructions and again, if I felt any better right now I wouldn't know what to do. Hope others can have the same successful PM implant and results that Bottom Gun had.

I'm with you, Bottomgun. I had a generator change in October and just turned 80. The way I see it, it's a race to decide which one of us, me or the battery, will give out first! And I never had much interest in races.

What matters in how I feel today, and today that's pretty good.

So happy your pacemaker has made a big difference in how good you feel! A nice steady heartbeat is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

Welcome to the club.

You each have at least three more generators to go.

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
