Hi Everyone,
I'm 32 and 2 weeks post op for a PM and an ICD. Everything went well at my 10 day check up on Thursday, but woke up Sunday with a swollen left arm, left chest implant.
Went to the ER yesterday morning and they cleared me for a blood clot. Did an ultrasound all the way from my jugular to my elbow. They told me to follow up with my EPS.
Called the hospital this am, and went in and saw the EPS team. They too checked the ultrasound and cleared me of a blood clot. They put...

Saturday night my husband showed me his incision line. Now he had his pacemaker/defib replaced 8-22-2013. There was a spot to right of center that had a little black line under the skin. Next to that was what looked to be an area the size of the head of quetip that was yellow/greenish. I thinking, that it was an in grown hair, picked at it then saw that was something coming out of it. I thought it looked like a small stitch. Pulled it out and put peroxide on it and let it air dry.

on august 8th, I had what I thought was going to be a battery/generator change. The procedure was done and when I finally got home from a week in the hospital, I was very uncomfortable and the wires were sitting on top of the pacer. I have a seriously compromised immune system that requires IV therapy each month to keep me going. The wires continued to protrude thru my thin skin and my doc was concerned about them perforating the skin and causing a fatal infection. My cardio sent me to a teac...

Hi
I got my PM in May of this year. I still have some shortness of breath when I walk for more than 10min., I am trying to lose weight when is coming off but slower than I wish it too be. I hear a noise in my ears like a motor running. I think it could be coming from my PM. I go to the doctor today, I will ask him if what I am hearing is from my PM. I know it will take some time to get back up to the speed that I was before I got sick. but when I read some of the other posting I wonder wha...

Yesterday I got in to see doctor after experiencing increased pain in PM area. He said it was inflamed and prescribed meds. More concerning was the report that my lead in ventricle may not be scarring over properly and additional surgery may be needed. Doctor says "we will watch it and cross our fingers". Not what you want your cardiologist to say! I was also told something about too much voltage being observed at that lead. Can anyone explain this one? I also found out for the first time that m...

Had my pacemaker implanted back in August. The incision has never closed around it. Now the doctors said he will give it two more weeks then he will have to take it out and implant another one by the other shoulder if there is no progress. It's been about six weeks now. Anyone else have this problem?

Hello All: I am so happy to see that this club is here. This is my first post. My PM was placed October of last year. Not many problems until last night. Woke up at 1 pm with tightening in my chest. Reminded me so much of labor pains. It would start out not too bad but would build into a pretty bad pain in th...

Hi,e
My dad is 83 has a pacemaker his 2nd one with no problems really. He has been afib a few times but converts back on his own. Now tonight he is in it again and won't call his doctor. He has an appt on Tuesday to get a regular echo check up. He has a 18 hole golf game on Monday. His BP is normally 120/70 but has dropped to 90/60. Aren't pacemakers supposed to keep his BP at that same number? Worried daughter here he falls asleep alot in his chair. Thanks, Tam

Hi all, I've had my PM since May 2013 and thought all was well until yesterday when my cardiologist called to say I showed some atrial fibrillation events on my readings. I got the PM because I had intermittent atrial fibrillation events so I am shocked to hear that ...they're back. The doc prescribed Multaq 400 2xday. I looked up the drug and it is pretty serious stuff. I'm out of town and we are doing all this on the phone. Anyone else have this situation?

My dad had a PM pocket infection and had to have all hardware removed. Pocket was left open to heal by secondary intent. and a wound vac was used to assist in healing. Surgeon, staff and facility were all equipped to perform this delicate procedure. The pocket incision looks great, and is almost completely closed 3 weeks post-extraction. The problem is: When the wound vac dressing was removed, Dad had a bright red rash with small weeping blisters above the pocket wound and under his colla...

Update:
Post op day 24 for PM insertion (Revo). This is my second post.
I'm still having occasional episodes of chest pressure, palpitations and pain. I have a right pleural effusion with pleurisy which started 24 hours after PM insertion but told it is completely unrelated to the PM insertion. Cardiac enzymes good. No one checked a BNP. Echo is okay. PCP started me on steroids against the Cardiologists opinion. Says I should just take Motrin (which has 0 effect). I only see red...

Hi all. I'm am a member of many years but have not been on here for quite a while. I am taking Flecainide and Digoxin. to control A Fib. After having a mechanical conversion 3 times in April and May I was referred to an E.P. to discuss AV node ablation. I am presently in normal sinus rhythm but if I have the...

Hello all! I had my PM implanted Sept. 30th. I had a lot of discomfort with my incision site, and surrounding areas. As of yesterday I started feeling much better pain wise. I had surgery due to severe bradycardia. Since my pacemaker, I've had a number of concerning issues. I do have an appointment tomorrow to have my staples removed, as well as a pacemaker check. Prior to leaving the hospital, I was informed my pacemaker settings were 60-150. During mild activity; such as, lying, sitting, short...

I had my pacer implanted back in June, for the past two weeks or so I have had extreme sensitivity around the incision sight and just anywhere around the battery in general.
It aches and it seems like it's inflamed, should I be concerned or is this normal?
It honestly feels like the position of it has changed, is that possible? Could it have shifted in any direction? One of my leads has been brought up on top of the battery.. Is that normal?
Still so new at thi...

My 16 year old son has had problems with spasms but now he says he feels as if he can feel where the lead screws into his heart. He is not in pain, he does say that it feels sore sometimes. Has anyone else ever had that feeling after getting a PM? He has had his for 3 months.

Hi! I had my original pacer, "Sparky" implanted in 2003 and I had to have 2 revisions to get things right with the placement (laying on the nerve causing my left arm to go numb, and reduced ROM with arm movement.
10 years later: I just had a replacement done 4 days ago, and I started bawling last night when I started to move my left arm and discovered that I have very limited range of motion again. I cannot move that arm across my chest because the pacer is hitting that muscle causing it to...

My daughter has a pacemaker and started experiencing tingling/pain in her left arm that seems to be ongoing. She has Tuberous Sclerosis and has been on Lamictal for 16 years for seizures, which are controlled. We had always thought the tingling was seizure related (a breakthrough seizure), but now we are thinking it may be a pacemaker issue. It seems to happen at night and when she has a cold/virus. She has had the pain for about a week, in the past they seemed to go away in a few minutes. Ou...

August 23rd, 2013 I received my new Bi-V Pacemaker. When I woke up I felt as if a truck had blasted over my body...twice! Come to find out my Doctor had the roughest time in his entire medical career with me and my surgery. Apparently my old pacemaker had a screw that was stripped. So he ended up having to "break" my pacemaker out of my chest. He used this crazy tool that looked like the largest set of bolt cutters you can find. See pacemakers are made of titanium so I can't imagine how hard tha...
