I had my pacer implanted back in June, for the past two weeks or so I have had extreme sensitivity around the incision sight and just anywhere around the battery in general.
It aches and it seems like it's inflamed, should I be concerned or is this normal?
It honestly feels like the position of it has changed, is that possible? Could it have shifted in any direction? One of my leads has been brought up on top of the battery.. Is that normal?
Still so new at this.. .would appreciate insight!! Thanks guys

it's rare but not impossible for infection to set in well after surgery so any new sensitivity should be checked out asap to rule that out.
They can shift, yes. Sometimes we do something that dislodges it, sometimes it's not stitched into place during surgery so it moves on its own, sometimes it's stitched but doesn't hold. Mine is submammary and was first placed in 1994. Had two babies, gained some weight, 4 replacements, the girls just plain sagging from aging 20 years ... it's several inches lower now.
Ice may help it feel better short term. I've aggravated mine something new at the gym, once after a day of kayaking, another time boxing on the Wii with my sister a little too enthusiastically. Ice and a day or two and I'm back to normal.

After this length of time, I wouldn't think you should be experiencing such sensitivity. I suggest you call your cardiologist's office to let them know about this. Hopefully, they will ask you to come in so they can take a look at things. Good luck.
