noise in ears

Hi
I got my PM in May of this year. I still have some shortness of breath when I walk for more than 10min., I am trying to lose weight when is coming off but slower than I wish it too be. I hear a noise in my ears like a motor running. I think it could be coming from my PM. I go to the doctor today, I will ask him if what I am hearing is from my PM. I know it will take some time to get back up to the speed that I was before I got sick. but when I read some of the other posting I wonder what is wrong with me could it be my age or what I am 59 now had a HBD thank God for that. It is good to be alive.

that you may need an adjustment to your PM. Get a copy of your PM's interrogation device. It contains all sorts of info like mode settings etc... Then your can ask questions here and get some advice on what to ask your cardio and PM techs.

I'm 59, over weight, and not in great shape but do try to walk every day and I'm s..l..o..w..l..y loosing pounds. When I first got my PM in June I noticed that I'd get SOB when exerting more and found that my PM needed a tweak to the UTR. Since then I've been fine and able to walk further which helps with the weight loss.

If in doubt ask questions and keep moving.

Have you ever heard of ...

...TINNITUS????

That could be what you are experiencing. Also called "Ringing in the ears."

Here's the definition I lifted from the web: "Tinnitus (pronounced ti-ni-tis), or ringing in the ears, is the sensation of hearing ringing, buzzing, hissing, chirping, whistling, or other sounds. The noise can be intermittent or continuous, and can vary in loudness. It is often worse when background noise is low, so you may be most aware of it at night when you're trying to fall asleep in a quiet room. In rare cases, the sound beats in sync with your heart (pulsatile tinnitus).

I've had tinnitus since mid-July 1956, courtesy of the .45 pistol range in the Army. PM did no affect mine at all.

Do yourself a favor, go to Google & search on TWO things: "Tinnitus & Pacemakers," followed by "Tinnitus & heart conditions." You will get a million hits. Read till you are sick. Maybe you will see yourself in there.

You did not mention any meds you take. THEY can easily cause tinnitus.

Yesterday I moved to a new place in my mind and realized how bad I felt 'before' and the difference my pacemaker has made.
