Lawsuits against a Munster, IN cardiologist, Dr. Arvind Ghandi, his associates at Cardiologist Associates of Northwest Indiana, and the acclaimed Community Hospital in Munster, In. have hit the television news again over the weekend. There were a lot of lawsuits a year or so ago toward the same people for unnecessary surgeries to implant cardiac defibrillators, and alleging that the doctor did not have the proper credentials to do these implantations. The patients had suffered many injuries and...

I received my dual lead pacemaker almost five months ago. About two months ago, I lost my voice. I can whisper, but I cannot talk ! I have been to several specialist, with mixed results. When they checked my vocal chords with a scope down my throat, they found my vocal chords to be in great shape. The latest specialist I have seen, an Endrocinoligist, suggested that I should try a month of no coffee, wine, spicy foods, & anything else that might irritate my throat.
Previously, to him, I ha...

I have had my PM for almost 3 months dx'd w/ SSS. I pace in AAI mode and I have a Bos Sci Ingenio - if that makes a difference. My last pacing percentage was 82%.
Within a few weeks after getting my PM, my autoimmune diseases kicked in and to make a long (and exceedingly painful) story short I've been fighting to deal with the aftermath of a severe flare and haven't had the strength to deal with anything else.
However, I've got a follow up this week at the clinic. I will...

A neighbor had many complications with a pacemaker implanted on Thurs. which made me glad I went to the University of Chicago Hospitals for mine.
His doctor was board certified in electrophysiology but our hospital may not have enough experience with this procedure or the fluoroscope equipment. His diagnosis was bradycardia after a 1 week monitor and he was sent to a heart doctor who hospitalized him for a pacemaker. His pulse was 45, and he was often tired and lightheaded after...

Hello,
I hope someone can help my mother who is in her 80âs. She had a pacemaker operation over 3 months ago. Two days later, a burning sensation started in her back area, and has been there day and night ever since. This causes her enormous stress and pain, making it very difficult for her to relax and sleep. She has seen over a dozen specialists - including several cardiologists, neurologist, immunologist, etc. â all of who say two things: thereâs nothing wrong with the pacem...

Hi, I am 7 weeks post implant, and about a week ago I began having a sharp pain at one side of the implant site. It is not constant, but it is becoming longer and more painful daily. The pain is not debilitating by any means, especially considering all of the surgeries I have had in my life. Today I tried to take a nap, and it was a no-go with the discomfort around the PM area. This is where I draw the line, when my nap gets interfered with! :-} Would the veterans out there think that this wil...

I almost wasn't going to post this because I didn't want to discourage anyone that might be contemplating the implantation of a device. However, If you're reading this site, you've likely been reading many sites about PM implantation, and are aware that with any medical procedure, there is always a very small chance that something may go wrong. For most, everything turns out fine. With that said, here's my experience.
I went in on September 8, to have a duel lead PM installed becau...

Hello! First time to post and just recently joined PM Club. So happy to find this sight. I have had 4 cardiac arrest episodes before I got my PM on 7/24/14. I had open heart surgery on 4/11/14 (one bypass). I've had some problems with PM and have had it adjusted once. Recently my Dr told me my wires in my ventricle are dying. But the good news is my PM is working and I'm alive. Has anyone else been told this? I'm 64.
Thanks

Hi guys. My 4 year old daughter had the pacemaker implanted on June 4,2014 because she was diagnosed with complete heart block 3rd degree. Her left ventricle was the size of a 10 year old. So She has had check ups since then and all were fine. Her teacher recently contacted us with questions to see if everything was ok. They told me she sometimes just go lay down and pass out to sleep and it's hard to wake her. When they do wake her they said she's lost. So I've called her doctor but haven't hea...

I have a slight case of pneumonia and bigger case of bronchitis. While having a coughing attack I got light headed, started shaking and muttering some words, now my pacer has been palpitating. No defib on board. Almost due for my batteries (within the next 8 months). I have had my pacer since 2006 and never felt anything from it. Now it is palpitating like its my actual heart. Something serious?

I am quite upset that. My pacemaker has moved from under the muscle and into the armpit. I will need another op. Apparently a lead extraction may also be needed and they may need to use the other side. So wounds on both sides. I am told lead extraction carries a 1% risk.....is that true? I have youngs kids and am so worried about the surgery.....can anyone calm my nerves with any personal success stories or knowledge?
Gratefully

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone was taking flecainide for their arrhythmia. I am taking 50 mg twice a day and I feel weird sensations in my chest when walking. Is a bit like my rate response kicking in too early and it only happened since I started the drug. I also feel very tired. Just wanted any comments on side effects from others on this drug.
Thanks
