Hi, I am 7 weeks post implant, and about a week ago I began having a sharp pain at one side of the implant site. It is not constant, but it is becoming longer and more painful daily. The pain is not debilitating by any means, especially considering all of the surgeries I have had in my life. Today I tried to take a nap, and it was a no-go with the discomfort around the PM area. This is where I draw the line, when my nap gets interfered with! :-} Would the veterans out there think that this will go away? It is more tender to the touch lately than it used to be. Thanks!

I'm 4 months out from PM surgery and have similar pains around the site. They vary from dull aches, to sharp pains and or short electric sensations that go away after a few minutes. I try not to touch the area but find that wearing certain clothes and sports bras irritate it and cause some pain. I'm trying to get used to it and find using a heating pad close and under the PM arm helpful too like "AS" mentioned.
It still seems weird to feel the PM on my body. I'm thin so it sticks out and I can feel the edge of the PM right under the arm....

Do they feel like ant bites or a quick needle stick? If so, that is the nerves knitting back together. You can feel that off and on for up to a year or so and they hurt.
The general said his was tender to the touch and more so lately, which made me think of possible infection.
Feel better,

Your body has to adjust

Your body has to adjust to the PM. If you aren't running a fever, you may not have an infection. As the swelling went down post PM implant, the PM appeared to stick out more. It also became more irritated because it was out where clothing would rub on the site.
I also ran into a situation where the PM got "pinched" between my shoulder and the chest wall. That usually happened when I was sleeping. I'd forget, turn over on my side and pinch the PM. It sometimes would be sore for a couple of days.
Then there were the twinges as my body adjusted to the PM, medications, and heart disease changes.
Hopefully you've just got some adjustment issues.

If it is more tender to the touch at 7 weeks out, you should see the Doctor. It may be nothing but you don't want to ignore it in case it may be an infection. That is something you want to handle right away.
Good luck, keep us posted.
