I just had my pacemaker put in about 5 weeks ago after being diagnosed with bradycardia. Last night I had slight pain on the middle right side of my chest. It didn't hurt but it was just there and finally went away this morning. I am new to this and not sure if this is something to freak out about and call the dr every time I feel that or if it's just part of the process. Also every now and again I feel a sharp pain in the pacemaker area. The Medtronic girl I saw yesterday said she has had some...

Hello there,
Im Daryl, 38 year old chap from Brisbane Australia,
After a 15 year journey dealing with the issues related to AF, completing every conservative managment plan, taking every known anti-arrhymic medication in Australia and dealing with their associated side effects, enduring 4 PVI ablations and still reverting back in AF. I have unfortunately suffered both physically and mentally as a result.
I have been recommended by three cardiologists to have ei...

About three years ago I was prescribed Finasteride for my prostate (BPH) prior to laser surgery. When taking I had growth of my breast tissue. After stopping it the right breast returned to normal but the left remained a little enlarged.
Since having a pacemaker fitted four months ago the left breast just under the pacemaker has again grown (not large but grown) and feels wobbly on movement.
I did not initially feel the pacemaker in place but now I feel it slightly digging in when lay...

My 78 year old mother had pacemaker and ablation surgery on 10/28/15 after being in the hospital almost 6 weeks. Prior to the surgery she was able to walk around using her walking and was lively and spirited. Since the surgery she has been weak and sleeps alot. She is unable to get up to even use the bathroom without assistance. She does have other conditions which I understand can delay her recovery but is it normal? I am worried about her leaving the hospital before she is ready even thou...

My mother got her pacemaker on 10/10, and was not feeling well afterwards. We had hoped it was due to the surgery. However, as the days went by she felt worse. Dizzy, short of breath, and nauseous. This happened mostly when she stood up or walked.
Finally, we took her to the Emergency Department. After a full work up, they decided to adjust her pacemaker settings so that it would raise her heart rate when she stood or walked.
The difference was like night and day. She sle...

I had my pacemaker inserted one week ago.
Very painful when I woke up. Left arm, arm pit, back of left shoulder all hurt terribly. I was told most patients have just an ache, take tylenol and of course ice it. I have been taking some Lortabs (Vicodin) left over from my hip fracture. Actually, this hurts much worse than the hip fracture.
Ice hurts the back of my shoulder, neck has been hurting from the sling I think.
Had large bandage removed today. The pacemaker site is very swo...

I had my pm implanted last Friday and since then I have felt a weird feeling. Like someone is flicking the inside of my ribs the same time as my heart beat whenever I my heart rate goes up like when I climb stairs or run. I can even see my chest jumping whenever this happens. I don't think that it can be from my pm firing because it is set to pace when I reach 40bpm and this happens when my heart rate accelerates. Has anyone else had this feeling?

Tomorrow I will be getting a pacemaker implanted. I have heard many different stories about what will happen after surgery but I would like to know if any other young people have had pacemakers implanted (late teens (17) to early twenties) and what their doctors told them about how long the stages of their recovery would last but most importantly, when will I be able to shower post op??

I had my PM implanted on 21-7-15 and underwent a second surgery 20 days later on 12-8-15 because of a lead dislodgement. My wound has healed perfectly but it has turned darkish pink over the last couple of weeks. The doc says it's fine as of now but I wanted to know if any one else had this color change ? I also have some weird pains all around the chests which the docs say have nothing to do with the pace maker and could be muscular pains.Although theses pains have reduced but they refuse to...

My son Max (age 9) just had his 3rd pacemaker implanted 6 weeks ago. He wanted to make a video to tell other kids, in his own words, what it is like to go in for the surgery.
https://youtu.be/dGegZMDv-NQ
For other parents - Max is a typical 4th grader. He swims on a summer cabana team, plays baseball, loves science, video games and roller coasters, and has almost no restrictions (no tackle football or karate sparring). He was born at 33 weeks and had his first pacemaker im...

Had a dual chamber St Jude implanted 10 days ago at C.C. Weston, Fl. Wound has healed nicely and the staples were removed today. Is there a problem with using an elliptical trainer? EP merely said don't raise left arm above a horizontal and don't lift anything heavier than 5lb with left arm. Is there a problem with combing hair with elbow bent? Tks.

Hi all,
I've been on this site a lot the past few weeks, and thought it was about time I join and actually participate in some of the discussions, as I think this is such an amazing forum for people looking for information and support.
I 42 years old and am 8 days out from having pacemaker #5 implanted for congenital heart block. I got my first pacemaker at age 11. It seems like every time I have a procedure, they act like it's so simple and I'll be back on my feet in...
