Takes time

Everyone is different. It took me till week 7 to notice my pain was gone. It was so hard those first weeks. It hurt like hell where the pacemaker was and I always felt this stingy feeling and was told it was nerves. My left arm always hurt. Then suddenly one day gone. Now that it's getting cold I can feel some pain sneaking up. I need a pacemaker warmer.

Depends upon your healing

It depends upon your healing. Everyone heals at a different pace so one person can be up and running within a few weeks and others take longer.

The 4-6 week healing time is typical. I had a lot more trauma before getting my PM so it was over five months before my pain went down.

After the initial incision and insertion pain went down, as I started to exercise more, I had more pain as I pulled and stretched out the scar tissue and the PM pocket. So even though the initial pain can go away you still may have to deal with pain due to exercise.

At the two year mark I rarely have any problems unless I push too hard. I'll be sore, but it was my own fault.

Yeah, 2 weeks is too soon to expect complete recovery. You have to give it at least a couple of months. I just received my 4th generator. Trust me, eventually you will forget you even have a PM.

Depends on placement

It's been 7 weeks since my implant and I was trying to compare it to my BIL who said it was a snap, but I am still sore. I think from reading that mine was placed under the muscle and that is why my arm and the site is still so sore. The pacemaker has no definition under the skin like my BIL's does. Some people say they were given a choice of whether it is placed in the skin or behind the muscle, but I was not. I don't know how the doctor determines the placement, but after being this sore, I would have preferred under the skin.

You know you're wired when...

You have a new body part.
