You will continue to feel better as you heal and your body adjusts to it's new member. Depending on why you got the PM you will probably feel better overall, especially if you got to correct a slow heart rate..

It does get easier

Hi, I too had my ICD fitted 2 weeks ago and can I identify with all that everyone has said but things are definately getting better and each day I see a positive difference. I too was terrified to to move my arm incase I pulled the wires out and contacting the cardiac technicians at my clinic gave me reassurance along with the daily natural improvements that occurred.

This site too has been a godsend for me and made things less scary. It is fear of the unknown and learning to trust the ICD, but as time goes on, it does get easier :)

2 weeks tomorrow

I am 2 weeks post op tomorrow and recall with clarity how painful the first week was and the difference/small improvements day by day in the 2nd week - I am still sore now and restricted and bruised and conscious about lifting my arm or weight bearing and get stabbing type pains and weird feelings I can't describe. But it HAS gotten better .... I think it's all an adjustment, physically and mentally and emotionally - I still freak out every so often and have highs and lows and am very emotional! I thought I was young to have a PM until I joined this group and read some stories! Thanks all for sharing!!

thank you

i want to thank eveveryone for comments. last night was first night i went without pain pills - i did take aleve. and this morning i still have pain and tightness but its much better.

I still have a lot to adjust to but it is easier when i am feeling myself getting better from the surgery.

thank you all

Hi, I am 5 weeks post PM implant. The Dr inserted the PM under my muscle and had to actually cut the muscle. About 4 weeks post op I was still in a lot of pain but today I don't have any pain at all. I'm sure when I will need to start using the shoulder and lifting my arm will be a whole other story but now I know, that too will pass. Just rest and take it easy. Let your body heal, it is a frustrating process but once you accept it, it is much easier to deal with.

Good luck - I wish you all the best and a quick recovery.

I am also new here. I had my PM put in Oct.23rd. I still hurt but not as much. Mornings are rough for me. Everyone I have talked to says the pain will ease up, sure wish it would hurry.. Well... have a great day.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
