Hi. I have had a Medtronic pacemaker since Dec 2015. I go to my Cardiologist every six months for a checkup. I see my cardiologist and another Dr takes readout from my Pacemaker. I have Medicare there is a $40 co pay to see the cardiologist no charge for taking the readout form the pacemaker. In between my visits every 90 days I make a transmission with a Medtronic MyCareLink I keep on my bedside table. My last transmit ion was on 14 Nov 2019. In December I got a bill from the cardiologi...

I am coming up on 2 years since my implant and I live in Canada. I’m just wondering if anyone’s PM aches with the cold. I have been putting a hot water bottle on it in the evening and the ache goes away. At work I wrap a scarf around my neck to keep it warm. Just wondering if this happens to anyone else? And if they have found any solutions. I’m perfectly fine in the warmer months but this is second year it’s happened in the cold.

Hi
Does anyone in the UK have experience with regards the criteria in respect to the UK Equality Act 2010 ( relating to the disability act)
In brief.. Employer sacked me after determining without risk assesment that my pacemaker was incompatable with my work)
I have started the business of suing them, but they will fight the case unless I can prove that the pacemaker is covered by the Act.
( I am not refering to the matter of benefits)
I am aware of the need to p...

Does anyone notice weakness in the arm on the side where your PM is? Sometimes is just sore out of no where to move my arm/under my armpit/shoulder/and implant site - as if I've slept on my arm wrong or lifted heavy weights when I didn't do either one. Even when I exercise my upper body, I'm not usually sore like this. March 2020 will make 2 years for me since implantation and this happens on and off sometime. Not sure if I should be concerned if it's the leads or ju...

I have severe scoliosis so my spa / hot tub is truly therapeutic. My pacemaker was implanted on Dec. 17, 2019. How soon has anyone used their spa / hot tub, for how long at one time and at what temperature. My main concern is regarding the electric pump I sit directly above. Thanks Much for any and all help. Blessings to you. Cissy

The icd was implanted in 2019,nov. Vstat. It has not fired at all since implant. My question is, has anyone had it fire when there was nothing happening. Like a defective firing. Could it be possible that if my heart rate stays normal it may never fire?

I got a CRT-D installed in April 2019 for cardiomyopathy, and both the leads and device are MRI-compatible. I am also high risk for breast cancer so have been getting alternating breast MRIs and mammograms every 6 months for the last 10 years or so.
I am due for my annual breast MRI in March but I’m not sure if I should try to do it or not. I’m a little nervous about the whole thing, with having to get a device tech to put the CRT-D in and out of safe mode f...

Hello everyone,
No going to lie, I was on the fence about joining this group for many reasons, but today is the day that I hopefully can connect with other individuals that share the struggle, but mentally and physically.
I am 31 years old, extremely active and have had syncope since I have been 17 years old. It has cost me countless jobs due to episodes occurring on the clock(liability). Last year, after what seemed to be a lifetime of hopelessness, I was fina...

I had a pacemaker inserted 2 weeks ago. Prior to this I experienced Migraines with Aura all my life since the age of 12. Usually about 1 episode in 3 months
Since the implant I’m getting it twice a week
Has anyone had similar experiences?

I found the most comprehensive history of the learning curve and the pacemaker I have ever come across. Some may have already seen this, but it was new to me. I have always had an interest in the history of pacemakers since my grandfather was one of the first PM patients at the Cleveland Clinic in the early 1960's. He needed a battery change with his first couple generators after about 1 to 1 1/2 years. The very first PM patient Arne Larsson had the very first PM implanted on October...

I am interested in what others have done about wearing a bra right after surgery?
I have a Medtronic Pacemaker with Defibrillation due to CHF.

It is a week today that I had a CRT-D implant. We have a trip booked in April for a Caribbean destination. We always go tan in a tanning salon for a few visits before our trip. Can I still go tanning with my device implanted.
Thank you
Bev

Does anyone with a pacemaker who has the new e-boxer Subaru hybrid Forester have experience of the key-less locking system ? I am both a pacemaker novice and a new owner, and I am finding it difficult to locate the positions of the transmitting aerials in the car.

Does anyone have any opinions about this that I read?
"Although pacemaker is the definitive treatment for patients in third-degree AV block, it does carry some burden of heart failure itself. A 2017 study finding patients with AV blocks are more apt to develop heart failure than those without an AV block, both acutely (over 6 months) and chronically (6 months to 4 years), which may be related to the dependence of frequent RV pacing.[10]"

I have afib/Aflutter and am brady/tachy. I was fitted with a pacemaker three weeks ago and my hr was set at 60. Lately my apple watch shows that my heart rate goes a low as mid 40s. It doesn't stay there..but for example today it shows my resting rate was 58. And yes when it goes to 46 to 48 I have to nap. Is it normal or even possible? And We checked the watch against my pacemaker at my one week check up and the tech said both were in perfect agreement. Oh, and ye...

Hi there everyone! I'm so grateful to have found this forum. By reading your posts I've already had lots of my questions answered over the past couple of weeks,
My story: Several years ago I was diagnosed with pvcs. No big deal and quiet honestly I didn't even notice them anymore, In May I was at a routine doctor's apt to get allergy meds ahead of an overseas trip. My doctor detected an abnormal heart beat & did an ekg which showed LBBB....

Hi,
This is for the women (or men with history of breast cancer.)
I'm not on here much because I haven't needed to be. No issues besides bumping my PM pocket, which is still sore.
HOWEVER, my PM was put in pretty quickly, and I didn't think about a mammogram, nobody thought to tell me I should get a baseline. My heart pausing 9.6seconds regularly was much more pressing.
I’ve never had a mammogram. I’m a 42yo female with breast cancer in my famil...

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
