Pacemaker = Nervous and Hopeful

I am brand new to the site but having been reading messages and learning from everyone over the past year. I will be getting a pacemaker on Monday, March 16th and am both nervous and hopeful. I've been dealing with Neurocardiogenic syncope for a number of years now and the ILR I had implanted in April, 2014 has also detected bradycaridia as well. I'm nervous, scared and hopeful that the CLS pacemaker (which I have named Olaf) that will become one with me on Monday will make me feel better o...

Walking

Just wondering how long it takes to get my energy back. I got my dual chamber pm implanted on the 23 of March. I was cleared to exercise , just no lifting anything over 10lbs 4-6 weeks. I felt okay until I got on the treadmill and walked for 35 mins. at 3.4 ,mph. After that for the last 2 days I have felt that top of the roller coaster feeling and I can feel my own heartbeat. I called my nurse and she told me I would have a pm check this Friday morning. How long does it take to get used to exerc...

Heart palpitations

I just had my pacemaker implanted three weeks ago for vasovagal syncope. I never had issues with heart palpitations before and now I feel them fairly frequently. I had a couple of glasses of wine one evening and I had a lot of heart flutters the next morning. When I had my first device check, I told the nurse I had felt some fluttering sensations and she acted like it was nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I go back to have it reset?

Gotta Get Goin Again

Hello, Had my device put in 1 week ago. I live in Ct. and have an 800' driveway.2 days after Surgery had to plow the driveway on my tractor, use a snow-blower to clear around house and paths to wood shed and pump house ( twice in said week !!) all without putting hand over head. No bad feedback from my Latitude Monitor. Think I can go to " Y " for some cardio and sit-ups? I went from 35 BPM to 61 with device so feel real good. Wound is sore but looks good. Anybody else out there like me? I want...

Closing of wound site

Hi,
My mom just had a pacemaker put in yesterday. When they brought her back to the room I noticed that the incision site was not covered by any bandage. She said it was glued shut. Is this common practice? I forgot to ask the nurse as I was so stressed over everything going on it slipped my mind.

Thanks,
Lisa

Dizzy

Okay, I've had my pm in for 6 days now and although sore, I am getting around and moving and have felt fine. I got up from a chair a bit ago and felt a hard dizzy spell. Not close to the passing out as I was doing before the pm, but still scary. I just took some deep breaths and rested until it passed. Anyone else have these and do you think it's just part of the recovery process ? I was having some palpations at the same time, but they passed too.

Left edge of PM protruding?

Hi. My Duel lead Medtronic PM was put in Feb 13. I'm 16 days post op. The last two days the site is very tender and sore. It appears that the left side closest to left armpit is now protruding and seems very close to my skin whereas the right side is well in "pocket" still. It's sore just wearing a light teeshirt. It kind of burns and feels so disturbing. I don't see cardiologist until March 16th. I think maybe the swelling and inflammation has gone down so is this protruding thing so cl...

Queasiness

Hi - PM fitted Feb 17. The wound has healed well, in many ways I feel better, but there is persistent queasiness (not quite nausea) that interferes with moving around the house (not outside) and of course depresses appetite. I take herbal meds for the queasiness, and it helps a lot, but would like not to have the problem at all. Docs say that it cannot be due to medication effects, and I agree. It's been much too long since the procedure. No other medication changes. Can it be still my phy...

Generator Change

Good Morning,
I had my first generator change Wed 2/25 (first pacemaker 11/2006). I thought I'd be feeling a lot better and am not. I have a single lead Medtronic for Sick Sinus Stndrome and while it said in Nov it had 3 mos, they found last week it went down to backup minimum end of Dec so haven't felt great the last 2 months.
My doctor had me come in yesterday to check everything. I've been dizzy, short of breath, very fatigued and sore with lots of Afib, Aflutter and PVC's. Seems li...

Surgery 2/24/2015

I had my surgery last Tuesday and am surprised at the amount of pain I am having. They did an AV Node Ablation and implanted the pacemaker in my left shoulder area. They did not have to go through my groin for the ablation but did it through the pacemaker pouch. My EP said that it is rare that they can do this but it does simplify the process and takes at least 1 hour off the procedure.

My Question is, could doing the ablation through the pouch have increased the amount of pain I a...

Lynda

Hi i'm new to this, I had a pacemaker fitted on the 3rd of November 2014, it caused me a lot of pain near my arm pit, so the box has been moved to a different position that was 3 weeks ago. Problem is it isn't any more comfortable than the first one.. Is this something we all have in common, something we all have to live with or is mine still in the wrong position.. Would appreciate your advice guys...

Feeling Uninformed

Hi,

Just become a new member. Had my pacemaker fitted two days ago. All happened quite quickly. On reading forum most of you seem to know exactly what your tracking is. I haven't got a clue. Are there OTHER things I should know about my device? Feel as if I should have asked many more questions.

Info I picked up so far (Cardiologist was talking very quickly!) is MRI compatible, 2 lead and on searching the internet think the words he must have used were Sic Sinus Syndrome....

Tire quickly and shortness of breathe.

PM put in on Feb.5. Have not been back to doctor yet, go next week. I tire out just walking across the room and pressure in the chest. My PM is set at 60 and I wonder if that is why I have these problems. I am a 70 year young female.

Thanks

Horrible Rash

Hello.
I had a duel lead pacer put in 8 days ago. Incision is doing well. However, I am fighting with a bad itchy rash from my shoulder the my lower neck line down my midline chest area over above my left breast and up towards shoulder again. It's red, bumpy, hot and very itchy. It is not the incision. I'm guessing it's an allergy to the drape they stuck on my during surgery that stuck to all those areas except the incision site obviously since that area was open for him to do the surg...

elbow by my head

Peanut40,

My PM was implanted on 02/12. I'm still using the sling, but only as a reminder or when I sleep because I'm used to sleeping on my left side with my arm underneath my pillow, straight up! I did good in the first couple nights, with a lot of pillows around me to limit my movement too, but the past three nights I found my elbow by my head, actually, my ear, when I woke up, even with a sling...I think I woke up because my sling kind of choked me when I raised my arm too hig...

AV Node Ablation with Pacemaker

I am scheduled for an AV Node Ablation and the placement of a Pacemaker on February 24th. This is a last resort to try to regulate my heart rate (I have A-Fib and flutter). I do not tolerate the drugs and prior ablations have not worked. We have tried all the "let's try this" choices and this is the only thing left to try.

I guess I just need some feedback from those that have had this procedure and some information on what to expect. I have talked with my surgeon, my cardiologi...

4 days post op pacemaker implantation

Hi everyone. After many months and hospital stays for severe sinus bradycardia and tachacardia (more so bradycardia) and sick sinus rhythm syndrome... My cardiologist implanted a pacemaker on Feb 13th 2015. I'm struggling with intense pain at incision site and shoulder upper arm and neck pain on the left side. Pain only getting worse. No sign of infection. I'm ignorant to all of this. I am not raising or using that left arm at all. I have a lot of bruising by incision site. Getting up, s...

pacemaker replacement

I have just had my pacemaker replaced. It was three weeks ago. My first one I had for almost 8 years. Does anyone have a problem with the pacemaker sticking up when you lay on your side? I sleep on my right side and my pacer in on the left. It is just like it stand s on end when I am in this position. Also my shoulder muscle is sore. Is there anything to worry about with each of these problems? Am I just being impatient? Thanks guys you are awesome!! DD
