Just wondering how long it takes to get my energy back. I got my dual chamber pm implanted on the 23 of March. I was cleared to exercise , just no lifting anything over 10lbs 4-6 weeks. I felt okay until I got on the treadmill and walked for 35 mins. at 3.4 ,mph. After that for the last 2 days I have felt that top of the roller coaster feeling and I can feel my own heartbeat. I called my nurse and she told me I would have a pm check this Friday morning. How long does it take to get used to exercise again and getting my heart rate up without feeling like my heart is racing all the time ? I take Toprol XL 25 mg a day and HCTZ 25mg every day and a baby asp at night. Any thoughts ? Should I just keep pushing with the walking ? Thank all of you for being so responsive. All this is really new to me and I want to feel good again.

getting back to it

We all vary in how quickly we bounce back. It can take a few weeks for our body to adjust so don't push too much until then.
It's possible your settings need adjusted. If you have av block, your atria goes as fast as it wants but the pm will only pace the ventricles up to the upper limit of the pm. So, if you are set to a max of 130 but your sinus rate is doing 150 when you walk, you are going to feel off. It's an easy fix if this is what is happening. I would take it easy until after the interrogation tomorrow.
Depending how low your rate was before, it may take some time before a normal rate feels normal again. My rate had been in the 30's so a normal rate felt crazy fast for months. After a while, you won't even notice it.

Tough Question

It sounds like you're doing very well. Everyone is so different it's hard to offer an opinion other than one's personal experience. It's been over a year for me and I'm just a couple years younger than you but I'm FINALLY feeling good again. I travel a lot for business and often miss my daily walks because of it. When I return to my usual regime after being being off one or two weeks, it's almost embarrassing how tough that first walk is again.
Just about everyone will tell you: give it time. Things will improve exponentially. Keep up the good work!
