PM put in on Feb.5. Have not been back to doctor yet, go next week. I tire out just walking across the room and pressure in the chest. My PM is set at 60 and I wonder if that is why I have these problems. I am a 70 year young female.
Thanks

Rate Response

If your sinus node is not functioning (SSS or Sick Sinus Syndrome) make sure the Rate Response feature is turned on. When the device comes out of the box they are preset and usually need some adjustments, especially if you are active. Just walking across the room could give you that restrictive feeling if the RR is off.
It's also possible 60 is not a good setting for your lower limit. We are all different and after a few months, the Doctor changed mine to 70 and I felt much better.
They usually will not change too many settings at a time so that if one or two does not work, they can change it back and try another adjustment.
Let us know how your visit goes.

I did get my appointment changed to this coming Monday. I will ask about the Rate Response feature. I just hope the Doctor changes something so I feel better. Would like to go back to the gym but the way it is I know I cannot.
Thanks for the information. Knowledge is a good thing when you are feeling lost.

I have SSS too, among a few other abbreviations. :-)
Make sure the Doctor knows that you go to the gym and are active. He may have a whole different approach to your settings.
The sinus node in our hearts is a natural pacemaker. It increases the heartbeat appropriately upon exertion, even just walking. If it doesn't work properly the Rate Response functions like the sinus node when it is turned on.
Good luck.

Do feel free to contact the manufacturer of your device. I have found them to be quite helpful when I have had questions and concerns.

Guess I had hopes to feel great from the get go, not happening.
The only issue was passing out after having all the tests for the heart. It was the sinus nodes. Just don't feel like I did before all this started.
Hope that the PM tells them something.
