Why do small bra strap comfort pads cost $25 and the seat belt pads, also? It seems the simplest items cost too much for handicap or recovering patients.

I'm looking for someone who's had my experience. It was only by chance that I had a stress test. I was changing insurance and approaching 70 and I thought it would be a good idea. Maybe I regret it now......or not. My cardiologist says I need an ablation for atrial flutter and a pacemaker for the bradycardia. I really have no obvious symptoms. Maybe I'm just used to feeling fatigued after exercise and enjoying an afternoon nap. &nbs...

To those members who reside in Australia, who have a Merlin home monitor please take note.
Last week I was admitted via A&E to hospital with erratic heart rates, high blood pressure obviously pretty high anxiety and everything else that goes with thinking you are dying. When the A&E doctor interviewed me lying wired up to monitors etc, I was asked what company my pacemaker was from, St Jude came back the reply and a call was placed to St Jude in Sydney to get a...

My Aortic replacement , tissue valve is now ten years old and a recent Echo has, not surprisingly, shown that the valve has hardened a bit and I'm heading towards a Stress Test....any informed comments out there in PMC Land.
I will check out with my wonderful Cardiologist Andrew Houghton all manner of questions.
I will be 67 next month and am still an active ( If slow ) runner...might I be correct in accepting a mechanical valve or,..as I would prefer, another tissue val...
Do pacemakers self-adjust?

I had my first pacemaker put in 6 weeks ago for sinus node dysfunction. At my first follow-up visit after 2 weeks the technician implied that it was too early to make any adjustments to rate response, and that the pacemaker (a Medtronic Advisa DR) would adjust itself over the first few months. Is this correct or have I misunderstood him? I am gradually feeling more energetic as the weeks go by, but I have not read anything suggesting that pacemakers can make self -adjustments...

Hi all, I have recently been told by my Cardio team that my afib has increased and they want me on blood thinners. Given a severe GI bleed I had a year ago my GI DOc says no but with caution I can take a baby aspirin..nothing stronger.
Somewhere I have read that if your pacers base rate is raised higher that it cuts out a majority of A-fibs. My base rate is 60.
Thoughts? Thanks everyone!

I'm a little uneasy. Because of palpitations my doctor has scheduled a cardiac nuclear stress test. Because of my knee problem, he has decided I won't go on the treadmill but have an injection to produce stress. I'm unmeasy (heck, I'm afraid) about the injection - I've heard that it produces such stress on your body you feel like you are dying. I don't know how many people have died and still be able to tell how it feels, but I assume it is...

I am Peter 72, Dutch but now living in the UK. Will try to make my story as short as possible.
Due to unexplained black-outs I had a cardiac monitor inserted. Last month I blacked-out again in the dentist chair. They called an ambulance, the crew checked heart/blood etc and told me that everythinh was fine. I mentioned my heart monitor to them but they did not take any notice.
Being not happy about it I contacted the cardio dept. in my hospital and ask them if I should m...

I have a pacemaker implanted 3/10/17 following open heart surgery on 3/7/17 for aortic valve replacement and ascending aneurysm repair. The implant was due to complete heart block, unexpected and shocking to me. I am still having issues with it.
As of this morning I was still having a good amount of palpitations (regular) ones and my pacemaker was set at 80-150. This is after 3 previous adjustments. I went to the clinic again and she said that my own sinus rhythm...

I have to go from the UK to America next month and have booked a flight with United Airlines.
Could someone help me . When exactly do I show them my pacemaker card :-
- when they first ask me to get off ?
- while they are dragging me down the aisle or
- after they have injured me and thrown me on to the runway ?
I have asked Medtronic head-office in the UK but they were of no help.
Ian
Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my recent post. I will check with my cardiologist to see if in fact if all the sensors are really turned off in my pm..I do know that I never had a problem with a fast heart rate until the pm. was installed. Kinda scary.

Had a pacemaker fitted November 2016 for heart block 1 and 2. Consultant wanted me off my medication immediatley which was ramipril 10mg on admission.
I am now very careful with what I eat , plenty of fruit and vegetables, avoid salt and products containing salt.
I find my blood pressure always higher in my left arm, both systolic and dyastolic. I am usually 10-14 digits higher than my right arm. My right arm reads a good blood pressure sub 120/80 but my le...

I had a biotronik pacemaker implanted six weeks ago for a mobitz 2 heart block. My recovery was very fast and I started working out with my eliptical and treadmille a few days later.. (bowflex about three weeks, with docs approval) The only problem that I am having is that my heart rate will speed up to 130 -140 bpm.for no apparent reason occasionalyand, it only lasts for 15 to 20 seconds then goes away. The settings on my pacemaker are 60-150. I did have an interogation...

Hi, I am going into my 4th month with pacemaker. I have to lift a 25 pd kitty litter container to pour it in cat box's. I did not do this in beginning till about 11 weeks out. I lifted it yesterday and put on hip to not have to hold of it with right arm to long. Well, my pacer is on right side, that is the side I lift with . I felt a weird feeling after that a few min later in chest. Not sure how to describe it. Just not feeling right. Lasted a few seconds. I did not even thin...

Hi, I'm new here. My implant date was 03/09/2017. I am 38 years old. I have a dual chamber pacemaker. I have heard a lot of people say they have more energy after placement. I am still tired all the time and short of breath. Might these things get better with time?
You know you're wired when...
You have a shocking personality.
