Why do small bra strap comfort pads cost $25 and the seat belt pads, also? It seems the simplest items cost too much for handicap or recovering patients.

I bought it

I broke down and bought the pad. I am glad I did. I am 3.5 weeks post surgery and still very tender. I also bought the seat belt cover but still too sore to use it. I am going to try the rolled up towel I read about somewhere else on the site. Yes, it was a lot of money but it is really super soft and light weight and feels so much better that the gauze I was wrapping my strap in. I also figure I won't need it once everything settles down and heals and I can use it when it comes time to change my battery.
I was having one of my pity parties that day and figured I was worth the cost becuae of what I had just gone through. Sometimes you just have to baby yourself and put yourself first.
I agree with you though, why do the simplest things cost so much? I didn't even think to look elsewhere. Now I'm headed over to Etsy to see if there is something there.

Cost of comfort pads for Pacemakers

I bought panty liners at Dollar Tree and am going to cut those in half or thirds. The stick part can go against the strap (underneath) and maybe that will hold it. PS I discovered by using the whole panty liner, I can put the sticky side under and against the bra strap. Then I fold it over the top of the strap and it sticks to itself, too...whole pkg. for a dollar at Dollar Tree.
Made my own

I saw the ones on this sight for bras. I said no way, too expensive. So I had some white soft cloth, some quilting batting, and bought some sew on Velcro. I measured where I would want it to rest on my bra strap then drew a tear drop pattern for the pad. The first one dislodged the quilting batting when I washed it so I had another set already cut and this time tacked down the batting twice on each side and top and bottom. Nurse in the hospital were impressed when she helped me on with my bra the day after surgery. My cost...less than $6!

That $25.00 bra pad is a rip off.It doesn't fit most bra straps and it slides and takes the strap with it.I decided to use the pads that come in padded bras or shoulder pads from old Blazers.Just put them under the bra strap and they work just fine.No sliding and the material is softer. They can also go in the washer and dryer.
