Hi, I am going into my 4th month with pacemaker. I have to lift a 25 pd kitty litter container to pour it in cat box's. I did not do this in beginning till about 11 weeks out. I lifted it yesterday and put on hip to not have to hold of it with right arm to long. Well, my pacer is on right side, that is the side I lift with . I felt a weird feeling after that a few min later in chest. Not sure how to describe it. Just not feeling right. Lasted a few seconds. I did not even think of pacer, just thought maybe was having heart attack. Got kind of upset. I calmed down. Do you think I dislodged a lead or something. ? I used my pulse odometer awhile ago, it read 52 from a couple of seconds then jumped up to 62. My l I w setting is sixty. Nobody told me I could not lift heavy things. I started reading that you should not lift stiff up over 15 pads? So what do you think? Did I dis lodge something. Concerned? Should I check with my Dr??? Argg! Always something! Thank you!!

Thank you Doublehorn. I hope it does not happen again. But felt yucky. Heart rate and blood pressure was fine. I am just a worrier, I freak easily. I have to find out if lifting g weights is safe. I know light weights or ok. They don't tell you much when you get these things. Have a nice day and thank you! ileen

It would be nearly impossible to do any damage lifting at this point. Weight restrictions are for the first 4-6 weeks, after that anything goes. I do triple digits overhead and deadlift my bodyweight, with my doctor's permission. It's possible to pull and irritate the scar tissue. It's ok if a single reading is under your minimum. If it's more than 10 bpm off or stays that way, then check with your doctor, but one quick reading that corrects, or a rate a few beats under your minimum is perfectly normal.
If I had to take a guess, I would say you probably held your breath when you picked it up. We do that and don't even think about it.

I'm 4 months out also. When I lift heavy things and use my left arm a lot I get funny feelings also. I talked to my PM ladies ( that's what I call the techs that keep everything in order with my PM!). She said that there are lots of nerves and tissue that was shifted during the implant. I'm getting so much better about not even realizing I have one! Yeah For Me!!!
Thank you all!

I really appreciate the help! Everything I get I feel is because of my pacemaker or heart. I am gonna try to be more like ,calm. Have always been an anxious person.Well, has not added one minute of joy to my life. So, trying much harder to just be mindful of the moment. And not freak out all the time. As they say, don't worry about the small stuff, and most of the time maybe 90 percent of the time , your worrying about something that never happens!(Mark Twain I think) Thanks again ! Gonna be positive today, and continue...... ileen!😁

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.

I wouldn't think you dislodged anything 11 weeks out. If you haven't been lifting much for several weeks it feels a little strange the first time you pick up something heavy. If the sensation happens again I might get it checked. Until then, "don't worry about it", as my wife would say. Good luck.
