St. Judes (Abbot) Merlin@Home Remote monitoring

I'm wondering how many people are using the Merlin@Home Remote Monitor with the Broadband kit? I cannot use either the wired option or the cell option, so please don't tell me to go that route.

In the past week, I've been around in a couple of circles with their tech support, because, as seems to be the problem, the monitor, with the wireless transmitter, was "too far" from the wireless access point (both are TP-link units), leading to connectivity issues. I estima...

word

There is no ''best word'' as there is but two options .

"better word"  is more correct ..

Many words (details) are better yet . But , I think ''recipient'' is better than "patient" , if we must opt for one word ..

Dressing

I am 3 days post PM placement. I am removing the dressing tomorrow. I still have a lot of bruising and soreness. I know I have staples, so I plan on leaving it open to air. Anyone else have a lot of underarm bruising? No signs of infection. Any tips on showering.  Denise

I just got my pacemaker implanted Thursday March 9th.  Is it normal for the pacemaker to make you jump with each beat?  Should I just lay down for a while?  There is no information on this from the pacemaker book, or the doc's post surgery instructions, and of course his office is closed for the weekend...!

Hello all. I'm a soon to be thirty year old librarian whose recently discovered this wonderful site. I was born with neonatal lupus that left me with a third degree heart block. My first implant was when I was maybe one year old and I'm now on implant number four. My dearest hope is that they figure out leadless pacemakers before my current set wears out!

Sick sinus syndrome - any advice appreciated

I had a single lead pacemaker implanted 6 months ago for Sick Sinus syndrome.  24 hr trace showed heart rate dropped to 35 and rarely went over 105.

Six months on and as soon as my heart rate goes below 60 the pacemaker kicks in, but I still have periods of feeling very dizzy, short of breath, extremely tired and unwell.  I find it very hard when I try to exercise again but on a normal day, walking about my heart rate is usually in 80-90 range and when I walk the dog...

DVLA Medical Declaration Form

Am I right in presuming that on question 4 of the medical declaration when it asks the date the device was implanted that this is the date of the last box change for those who are applying for their first driving licence?  It would seem irrelevant to enter any prior devices for DVLA purposes.  However, when applying for insurance depending on providers they may need date for first implant.

Thanks

Newbie here!

Hello all!  I am set to have my PM put in on 03/13.  I'm feeling anxious, nervous, scared, excited, prepared....everything all at the same time.   I am only 35 and can't seem to digest that it's even possible to need this "at my age' but I know that age don't mean a thing!

Recently diagnosed with Bradycardia with an average rate of 49.  Been experiencing pre-syncope, lightheaded, dizziness, extreme fatigue for a few years and just recen...

Your Latest Poll

CHoices - Patient; Recipient.

What's wrong w/ "Host"?  we've been using it for years in here.  Sounds perfectly good & appropriate to me.

"Patient" sounds too short term & negative - especially after I've had the device for 14 years.  Also sounds a bit like the device isn't welcome.  Mine is a welcome guest that performs a useful function for me.  A much better description.

"Recipient"?  Did...

Congestive Heart Failure Question

Hi all,

I've had my dual lead pacer for nearly 3 years, and all has been great. It looks very likely that I now have congestive heart failure.  My cardiologist retired a few months ago, so I am waiting for an appt. with a new doc to have a complete work-up.  Last week an x-ray showed that my heart is enlarged.  I have many of the symptoms of CHF.  Pretty sure this will be my new reality.

I'd appreciate any advice you have to offer.  Thanks!

Pacemaker adjustments

Since the Heart Hospital near my home closed last months, docs have scatteted all over.

The initial cardiologist had me feeling pretty bad.  When i saw the 1st EP he made adjustments and i felt better.  A month later i saw the factory rep and she said she wished the EP doc would have called her - adjustments could have been made.  Go to 2nd EP (where my PM monitoring was being moved to), saw rep first who made no changes, saw EP doc who recommended ablation but do not kno...

Another Newb with a story...

Hi. I'm 47, and had a Pacer put in at the end of December from Bradychardia (Which I'm pretty sure I've had for at least 20 years). Symptoms that led me to seeing a Cardiologist were light headed/dizzy, fatigue, muscle chest pains and slow heart rate. I did a stress test and took 13 minutes to achieve 150 rate and sleeping rate was low 30's. So, the Pacer was put in (Main setting not to drop below 60). It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride as they've had t...

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
