Hi all
am currently sat in hospital after being referred by gp on Friday.
Had some dizzy spells and breathlessness over the last 6 weeks and now seems I have a similar resting heart beat to Mo Farah (38-40) with it dropping into the 20's whilst asleep .
got the news yesterday that will need a pacer so thanks to all contributors to this site as the info and shared experiences are invaluable.
My fitting is Tuesday or Thursday so have had time to digest and contemplate Am an active 48 year old (gym, tri, ice hockey) with a 3 year old daughter and I take a lot of comfort from the group positivity and general resilience so just wanted to say thank you for helping me to prepare for this next chapter

I had the same symptoms. Heart rate dropped to 30&20' s in my sleep.. I've had my pacemaker for a year and 3 months. You will be fine once you get the pacemaker.. good 😊 luck
Good luck you will be fine :)

Hey, I have the same as you really and got my pace maker fitted 7 days ago. I'm 33 years old. I had mine sub muscle(behind the muscle) and still 7 days on I can barely move my arm. The doctors told me I'd be fine in 3 days! And able to drive after 7! No Way. So just a warning you may be fine but if your having it sub muscle the recovery time will be extended. If they haven't discussed with you where it is going then have a research on that. I asked for it sub muscle. Although the recovery time is longer I think it's better when you are young and do lots of excercise. Just something to consider. Good luck :)
You will be fine and better than ever!!

Hey there, When i was 15 years old in 1975 my pulse dropped from a regular 45 - 50 down to 19 beats a minute... Same same dizzy, fainting, not enough oxygen to the brain... (My pulse was always slow due to congenital heart block).. I was at my boyfriends house when i fainted and fell down the stairs (carpeted). Mum took me to my normal hospital but it was the time of Cyclone Tracey in Darwin Australia and they said sorry we cant take her she is walking we are expecting serious casualties from the disaster in Darwin.. and sent me away, can you believe it!! Anyway we went to the Repatriation hospital as my mum was a war widow and they kept me on bed rest for 3 weeks till my pulse came back up and then decided it was time to put a pacemaker in...
YOU will be fine, and better than ever, within a few months you will just get on with life as usual and forget about the pacemaker and doing everything you have normally done and doing it much better!
Love to hear how you go... trust in the doctors they know what they are doing, for them putting a pacemaker in or changing it over is like putting a bandaid on.... Think about all those who have open heart surgery, this is nothing compared to that...
Be thinking about you next Thursday when I get my new pacemaker - I think it will be Number 10... Lots count!

i had low beat arrhythmia and had a pm 14 months ago - best thing ever - getting first months readings downloaded on the follow up appointment is good and I recently had the full year data downloads and graph charts where they can adjust settings etc - great to know that it has needed to work during the time and all had been stable - activity with daughter will be fine but don't pick her up for first couple of weeks - or not above shoulder height anyway - good luck with procedure best thing I ever did !
You know you're wired when...
You can feel your fingers and toes again.

All the best this week. Be sure to check in post the implant. I'm glad the site helped. That's why we're here.
