So, exactly to the day,..ten years ago I was in Glenfield Hospital Leicester UK.
The World Class Surgeon..Richard Firmin cut down my sternum and delved into my heart to provide me with a new Aortic Valve.
Twelve weeks later I ran seven miles to raise £1212 for the Glenfield support charity...
Six months later I ran my first Half Marathon in Nottingham...2hrs 12 mins
I've had ten years of running up to my best of 50 kilometers in 24 hours
This is not a boast......This is a simple demonstration that goals can be acheived.....
Cardiac issues do not need to be seen as a life sentence..
If you can DO IT

Great thread! I attend boot camps 4-5 times each week, ski, hike and bike every chance I get. I've been blessed with good doctors and pacemaker technology since the age of nine.
After my third open heart surgery in 2010, I wrote a to do list. The first thing was smile at my wife while in recovery, then go home, then walk around the block, etc. The last thing on my list was to take my family on a downhill ski vacation in the Rocky mountains four months after surgery. That was the best family vacation ever! I still remember trying to keep up with my teenage sons.

Thanks for sharing that. You truly are inspirational and prove that no matter how much anxiety we have over these changes in our lives, (most of us) should be able to push past the mental obstacles and live as normal of lives as possible! Thanks again!
