Left breast issues on mammograms....abnormalities?

I had my 2nd mammogram post PM two weeks ago. I got a letter saying to come in for a diagnostic (not screening) repeat mammogram due to possible "abnormality" on the left side. Would having a PM affect the breast tissue below/arround it? I really do not want to be squashed again as it was really uncomfortable on that side, and because I was afraid they would pull on the PM and dislodge a wire. Is there any information on left breast abnormalities (the side the PM is on) after gettin...

Your Cardiac Team

Just an FYI:

My experiences have shown the most completely understandable explanations for any of your PM questions come from your EP's nurse who usually is the device clinic nurse. Trust in her/him!

Politics

The recent political post and its subsequent comments violated a good chunk of the terms of service so it has been deleted. Please play nice. Politics and Nice almost never mix, and politics have nothing to do with cardiac devices. This is not the place for it.

Anyone have their pacemaker removed?

I had my annual visit with my Electrophysiologist on Friday. He doesn't think I need my pacemaker and wants to remove it. My back story is I had undiagnosed Conn's disease which caused my heart to go into Idiopathic Ventricular Tachycardia. They did an ablation and my heartrate (which has always been naturally 45-55bpm resting with no problems dropped to 38 and I couldn't hardly function. Due to the amounts of medication I was already on trying to fight symtoms of the Co...

Pacemaker

Hey,

I know this may sound crazy, but can we go to concerts with a pacemaker? I wanted to know because of the loud speakers and stuff and I don't know if it will affect our pacemaker?

I have had my pacemaker on this day January 19, 2016. I had to implant it because of recurred syncope. I am leading almost a normal life without any recurrence of the previous problem except that I cannot sleep on my left side as the skin above the pacemaker gets pressure.

shoulder frozen up for lack of use

Has anyone else had the problem of their shoulder freezing up from not being able to use it or lift it...for weeks after their pacemaker was put in?  If so, what worked for them to slowly get it back to normal use with out the crunching and pain?  I see i my booklet and directions Im not supposed to use heat in the area of my pacemaker, but feel like the heat just might help?  Im wondering if I put a heating pad on my rear shoulder, behind where my pacemaker is if that would be...

One week post op!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Megan and as of last week I am the proud new owner of a pacemaker. I don't know if proud is the right word actually with all of the anxiety and unknown feelings that have seemed to come up. I was rushed to the Emergency room on January 3rd by ambulance with a heart rate of 25, after figuring out that I was in a 3rd degree heart block that lasted approximately 48 minutes I was told I'd be receiving a pacemaker. Now for a little backstory! In September 2014...

Backpacks!

Hi guys! I'm a college student, recently I got a pacemaker (Dec 30, 2016)  it sits a few inches under my left collar bone. As I went back to classes this week I found it slightly painful to wear my left backpack strap, my backpack is generally heavy with my work load. Should I not worry about it for now until I heal up more or is it typically uncomfortable to wear a backpack with a pacemaker?

Weight gain

Does anyone feel like they need an adjustment when they gain weight? I gained 10 pounds in 6 months and I feel terrible. I'm working on losing it but I'd like to know if weight gain/loss plays a roll in pm function. I've had my pacemaker 2 years, I'm 34 years old and I have two kids to keep up with.

Has anyone gone to the Aiguille du Midi or on the Jungfrau railway?

Hi everyone,

I'd love to go to the Aiguille du Midi or ride the Jungfrau train, but the Aiguille du Midi says, "No pacemakers."  Taking the Jungfraubahn brings me to an altitude almost as great.  I'll be talking to my cardiologist about this, but I was wondering if anyone has been in altitudes of 11,000 feet or greater.  Please know that I'm not talking about in an airplane.  This means being out in the good ol...

Pacemaker and defibulator

I have had my pacemaker about 3 years now and recently I have begun to have pain as I try to sleep on my left side It feels like the pacemaker has moved or is pressing on something. I cannot sleep on my right side where as I have a catheter in the right side This allows the medication to flow directly to my heart. Don't know if there are devises that may help the pain to sleep

Walt Disney World Trip

Hi, just a quick question.

I have a pacemaker/defibrillator and am going to Disney World in Florida this June and was wondering if there were any rides at any of the theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom) that I needed to be worried about or shouldn't ride.

When I go to Disneyland I ride everything except for Space Mountain because I'm not too sure if that is ok for me as well.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
