I had an ICD replaced a few days after you and I still get pain, it feels like the pain's coming from the inside of the heart. The doctor's sure it isn't but I'm not convinced. I've had pacemakers since I was 2 and have never had it for so long. The pain's often worse after exercise, though can also come as soon as I wake.

I had mine in March 2016 and still have days when it becomes sore. I've started to do more in the gym than I did and that has unsettled it again. For the most part it comfortuble enough, but yep, I still have days when it becomes sore. I suspect that is the way it will always be.
Thanks

Pain and Looks Infected

I also posted about this on the Complications tab, I believe. Surgery on 12/16/16. Site is scare, but the skin is very pink/red by the actual PM site and color radiates below it about 2". It is also sore.
I will see NP for the funciton of the PM on Monday, 1/23/16. I will definitely show her the site and also the other nurses. I want someone to access this because it does not feel right. Now, someone mentioned that if a lead is infected, antibiotics do not work. The lead or entire PM may have to be removed. I hope not. Just recovering from the mental shock of having it inserted. I was so close to the 6 week marker of having my life return to normal. Oh, well. One day at a time, I guess. Monday, 1/23. is tomorrow morning.

I'm 43 and have had my pacemaker four weeks today. I'm looking forward to living another 50 years and this marvelous device inside me will help me do that.
lingering pain

It's uncommon but not unheard of for it to continue to hurt 6 - 12 months, very very occasionally long term. It can take a while for the scar tissue to build up around it so it becomes numb. Anything you feel is muscles and nerves, completely unrelated to how it functions.
