Hi – First time posting. I had my PM implanted on 9/1/16. I am being paced in the Atrium only, although my PM is capable of dual pacing. I am an active runner, running 4 - 8 miles every other day. I had the implant to correct missing heart beats and breathlessness (and some light headedness) which came on fairly suddenly. This first became evident when climbing stairs, then to a lesser degree in less stressful circumstances. The problem was more annoying th...

How do you know if something is interferring with your pacemaker like machinery, scanners etc. A friend has a wood chipper and it says not to operate if you have a PM. What affect does it have or what would I feel to know it is interferring. My Atrium works 90% and ventrical 10%.

Back from hols and have totally suprised myself, did some big day's walking (probably too much) but it was so good to have the energy to give it a go. There are still some spells during the day/night where I still get feelings of being iffy/ out of synch but hopefuly they will settle.
See the Consultant in October so we will see what shows up then, in the mean time I try very hard not to notice the iffy spells and enjoy feeling like the person I was.
I would not be as far forw...

After peaking at 99%+ dependent on the PM, at my last checkup I was "only" 55% dependent. I don't think those numbers matter much to me day-to-day, since I'm not going to yank the PM out at either value, but it's nice to have the old AV node getting off its bum and doing what it's supposed to at least part of the time. I'd love to say I've been working out and am in the best shape ever, but that would be a lie. We are eating closer to the source, lots of vegg...

My family is going to Disney World this December 2016 and I have heard that people with pace makers cannot ride certain rides. Has anyone been with a pacemaker and have any problems? I have also heard that while going through security they should not use the wand but pat you down. I haven't been anywhere to worry about security so this has made me a little nervous.
Thanks for all the help.

Hi everyone! I just had My 6 month check up. Everything was Great! I asked the Biotronik tech. how everything looked, He said great! I asked questions that I heard about here on the Board. I asked about the rate response setting. He said Mine was turned off! I told Him when I work I can feel my heart working like it used to! The rate raises the way it used to, and slows down in a timely manner! He told me the upper part of My Heart was paced at 100%, while the bottom isn't paced at a...

I am 42 years old. The company I worked for shut down and moved overseas in 2013. No benefits. I never had to pay for health insurance since company paid for it. I got insurance online to avoid the tax penalties. I got Freedom Life Insurance. It is no good. Hardly anything covered. 2 doctor visits per year. No X-rays or test, etc. I had heart failure in July. Cardiologist said I need CRT. Insurance will not pay for it. DR estimated it would cost $60k. I have advan...

I am 57 and was diagnosed with viral cardiomyapathy at the end of this past May. My EF at that point was at 25% and very slowly has increased to 33% as of yesterday. My cardiologist discharged me from my life vest (which drove me crazy!) and now has left the ICD implant choice up to me. His words were" if you were to get into your car right now and drive home would you get into a car accident? Most likely not. Is there a chance you could? Yes, there is." So that is...

As a new pacemaker two lead recipient, I am considering a wrist Bp/Puse monitor as I am on two new BP meds and want to monitor BP to determine how the meds are working and pulse to acclimate to activities with pacemaker. Does this make sense or perhaps should I just get someting to show pulse.

I had a triple lead implant about 4 weeks ago - taken to the emergency room in an ambulance and had my pacemaker inserted about 2 hours after I arrived. I've done quite well but I have a lot of soreness at the site of my pacemaker and in my left shoulder and arm. Is this normal?

Thank you for this group and thanks for those of you who offer your advice and wisdom.I had a PM put in two months ago. I am healing well and my concerns issues have been addressed adequately by my doctor and a lot of the posters on this site. Here is my concern and I am wondering if anyone has had this experience and does anyone think it is Pacemaker related??

After several days of getting an error message due to "privacy issues" with this website, I was finally able to log on. Just wondering if it was due to the pacemaker club website or my computer? Did anyone else experience this problem???

Well off on holiday on Saturday and so looking forward to it. We are heading for the French Alps walking and to think 2 months ago I could hardly get up a couple of flights of stairs.
My lower rate adjustment has made a big difference and have started the bisoprolol (not sure if I will need it for long) , feeling so well it's weird, keep waiting for some thing to kick off!. I know its still relatively early days but so far getting the AV node zapped has been great for me. Fingers x...

Hello fellow supporters,
About four years ago, I had all the tests. There's nothing wrong with structure of my heart and stress test was good. At that time I didn't meet the criteria by narrow margin for a pacemaker but now my heart rate is frequently lower at around 40 bps with other arythmia occurances; extra, skipped, and rapid beats. I have no health insurance. I want to find where I can get evaluated on the cheap and possibly have the PM installed. I have copies o...
