My family is going to Disney World this December 2016 and I have heard that people with pace makers cannot ride certain rides. Has anyone been with a pacemaker and have any problems? I have also heard that while going through security they should not use the wand but pat you down. I haven't been anywhere to worry about security so this has made me a little nervous.
Thanks for all the help.

Security, in general

I don't know about the rides, so nothing there. However, I've been through security at airports and boarding ships and going into government buildings and in every case I just hang back slightly, pat my left shoulder with my right hand (which apparently is the universal sign for "I have a pacemaker") and say "pacemaker". No need to get all wordy; the security folks know what to do. At the airport they send me through the Advanced Imaging Technology tube rather than the standard metal detector. On the ships, it's usually a pat-down.
While looking up what the AIT is called, I learned this exciting fact: Pies are permitted through TSA checkpoints, although "they are subject to additional screening if our officers see any anomalies." I would think cherry pies might cause the officers to perform additional screening, such as taking samples, especially if the pie showed up right before lunchtime!
