This past Monday morning I had my St. Jude CRT-D device inplanted. My concerns regarding bladder issues were not necessary as I was sedated to the point that the only thing I remember was a jack hammer pounding on my chest. My procedure took a little less than 3 hours and would have been 2 hours but one of the leads took longer than expected. At 2 pm, We were on the road headed north to the foot hills of the Adirondacks (Lewis County, NY). Monda...

Hi,
I haven't posted here for a while, but after two recent hospital stays and a follow up consultation yesterday, I would like to hear some views/advice please. Living in France, I have received very little information about my condition. I understand it started with a Flutter diagnosis and I have had 3 ablations. After the last one some weeks later I started with hear block and had a pm fitted. Since then I have coninued to suffer severe palpitations and af...

Hi all. Quick ? How bad is caffeine in moderation for me? I don't really miss coffee, but I do miss coke, very much. It's like an addiction with me. I have some from time to time and each time I tell myself - no more, as I feel that familiar fluttering, and I always seem to cough when it happens. Lasts for a little while and it is not pleasant, then every thing goes back to normal. Feedback anyone? P.s. Caffeine free soda...

Three days post my AV node ablation, have had bad nights with HR up in the 90's still and also very aware of my pulse, feels too strong(can't think how to discribe it).Suppose it will be down to the new way my heart is working. However I know things take a while to settle, so staying positve and trying to find info on getting back to fittnes without causing undue strain on my confused heart.don't want to cause/bring on any more problems.
Hospital seemed to warn you on n...

Hello. I had my pm implanted 3 weeks ago, and my sinus node completely shut down after 17 days, so I am pacing 24/7. I haven't started drinking coffee again (yet!) but was wondering what effect caffeine might have on my pm? Caffeine used to give me a boost and raise my HR as much as 10 bpm. But, does anyone know what might I expect now? Thanks.

Surgery was done yesterday morning and I was back home just after lunch. Immediately felt better with more energy. I can't believe how drab I felt before. Other than pain at the site, I'm feeling fantastic and very thankful.

I am very concerned about having to go to the bathroom during my CRT-ICD implant procedure on the 18th. I will NOT be totally out during this procedure and will go home the same day if there are no complications. Has anyone been provided with a catheter or a urinal during their procedure? On my many trips to St Joseph's in Syracuse, NY for placement of my 18 stents I was always provided with a "bottle" to relieve myself when necessary. This time I a...

Well, I received my implant on Monday and so far, so good. I have a lot better range of motion in my left arm than I expected I would. I'm definitely sore and I have had some weird thumps now and again. I'm writing down dates and times to ask at my coming follow up appointment. So far the most noticeable change is the lack of dizziness when I get up...lol. Here's hoping that things will heal quickly and remain positive.
Tomorrow I get to take of...

My husband had his PM implanted 6-14-16
He has been experiencing some dizzy spells where he says he almost feels like he could pass out but doesn't. This doesn't happen while exerting himself such as running or anything like that. It happens when he gets up, sits down or just walking around the house. his pacer is set to not drop below 60. We have a pulse oximeter and we check his pulse regularly. It's usuall between 60 and 70. Occasionall...

Has anyone had an MRI scan with a compatible pace maker? If so what did they do and did you feel anything unusual. Was your pm OK after. I may have to have one soon so hence my question.
thanks

Hello. New to the club, but have read some great postings. I am due to have a dual chamber pacemaker installed in 4 days. Is it normal to feel so anxious? I keep thinking my heart is getting worse and I should call 911 but then things settle down again and except for being lightheaded I feel okay. Sleep is a real problem as it seems all I do is think about myself and the anxiety increases. I wear a Fitbit and I am consantly checking my heart rate to see if...

has any female had any experience of trying to get hormone replacement therapy with heart block? I came off it 2 years ago and want to go back on but my doctor wants the OK from a cardiologist first. I feel it may help my symptoms with palpatations and the usual symptoms you get in the menopause. I'm taking beta histamine at the moment for vertigo had this since my blackout which lead to pm implant think it might have been when I hit my head. Now at times I get short of breath when...

Good Evening Everyone,
I got my first pacemaker in 1973 when I was 10 yrs old, I have had approximately 16 pacemakers since then, I'm trying to see how many of us are out there? I would love to be in contact with someone who has survived this long😊
Thanks in advance for your time

It's been awhile since I last posted and I just want to let people know that unfortunately some Doctors are very greedy and take advantage of the elderly. I was told I needed a pacemaker in 12/2013 because of SSS. I went from a very active senior to someone who sat in a chair all day because any movement sent my heart rate racing or sleeping all day from the narcolepsy I developed after the procedure. Settings changed nothing helped. I finally found another Doctor and she...

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
