This past Monday morning I had my St. Jude CRT-D device inplanted. My concerns regarding bladder issues were not necessary as I was sedated to the point that the only thing I remember was a jack hammer pounding on my chest. My procedure took a little less than 3 hours and would have been 2 hours but one of the leads took longer than expected. At 2 pm, We were on the road headed north to the foot hills of the Adirondacks (Lewis County, NY). Monday night I slept well without any breathlessness issues. Tuesday I walked the .2 tenths of a mile down to my mailbox and back without breathing issues or chest pain. Tuesday night was a breathlessness free night also. Wed I walked the .3 tenths loop around my block twice with an hour break between walks. Wed night I noticed I had a little difficuly drifting off to sleep but nothing major. Thursday morning I did a mile round trip walk down the road and back with very light chest pressure. Later in the day I noticed a feeling of heaviness in the chest area over the heart and that night I experienced a lot of breathlessness and even after 10 mg of Melatonon It was 2:30 am before I got to sleep. Friday morning I walked the same course with the same light pressure appearing at the 3/4 mark. Friday night I could not get to sleep even with melatonin because of the breathlessness and at 2:30 am resorted to taking 2 Tylenol PM caplets. By 3pm I was asleep and remained so till 8:45am today. At 10:15 am I tried the mile course again (with my wife to keep an eye on me). This time, I felt increasingly uncomfortable chest pain and shortened the walk to 1/2 mile (breathlessness didn't seem to be an issue). Monday I will see my local Cardiologist and his pacemaker nurse to try and solve this issue. I will also send a Fax to my EP (Inplant) Cardiologist explaining what has happened.) My Merlin Home Monitor won't be set up and operating till this Tuesday. Doing regular activity around the house and breathing during the day doesn't cause me any problems. Does anyone have any ideas regarding what happened? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated? Sid

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.

Hello Sid,
I commented to you and Dory (another recent post) at the same time. Sorry, I'm very new to this!
