Prominent CRT-D

I am quite thin and my Boston Scientific CRT-D is very prominent. In addition, it seems like there is something like another wire that comes out from the top of the device and is rather noticable under the skin of my upper chest. It seems to be a couple of inches long. Have noticed this before, but it seems to be a bit more prominent lately.Anyone else notice anything like this.

Replacing old pacemaker

My pacemaker was put in 2007. During my last checkup I was informed that I've got about a year and a half left of battery life left to go before it's replaced. I was wondering what signs or symptoms should I expect or to look for before it's replaced.

New to the Group

Hello !
My name is Ella and I just joined a couple of days ago. I got my CRT-D 10 (ten) days ago and it is ironic. You see I am a telemetry monitor technician and have been for over 8 years. I hook up patients on the heart floor and watch them for 12 hour shifts.
And....now I have a pacemaker. It should be interesting now seeing it from both as a technician and as a patient. So far I am taking one day at a time. I go back to the doctor on the 1st of June though I need to go deliver...

Planting, and my heart let me know

Hi. Finally had a beautiful sunny day so I decided to plant a few flowers in my front garden. Bought 16, but after planting the 8th one I had to stop as my heart was busy "fluttering" and it lasted for a few hours. Am real worried about that. It wasn't so strenuous. Tiny flowers, long handled shovel and I really didn't dig, just kind of moved the earth around, bent over to sit the flower in the space and pushed earth around it to hold it straight. My husband had to finish the job for me....

Pacemaker kids

Hi. My 8 year old son had a pacemaker fitted at Alderhey hospital 4 years ago. He's expressed an interest recently in meeting some other kids with pacemakers. I just wondered if there are any parents on this site who'd like to meet up or chat. We are living in the Merseyside area of the UK. Kind regards Vanessa.

Having an MRI

I'm not sure if I have asked this question here before, but here goes. When I had my PM put in a couple months ago, the Dr. asked if I thought I might need an MRI in the future, and who knows the answer to that question, so I said I might, so they used a PM that would allow that. I have bad shoulders and several years ago had one rebuilt and it needs it again. I was speaking to one of our daughters that is a ER nurse and she said to have an MRI on a PM person, they need a couple Dr.'s there w...

Help convincing Dr's

I'm a 23 year old female and I first fainted when I was 11. As far as I can tell I have an arrhythmia, mitral valve prolapse, and I've been told my blood vessels don't constrict properly and that's the cause of my fainting. I tend to only faint in the heat and I haven't in years because I've learned to manage it (and by manage it I mean miss out on half my life because of it). However it is still very debilitating as I live in the crevice of lucifer's butt hole and it's 80% humidity or higher ye...

Hello, Today I am at an RP28, not feeling well, and am getting closer to making a decisive date for the pm implant. I'm still learning about the subject. Can someone please tell me what the difference is between a cardiologist and an EP? I have only seen cardiologists. Thank you.

Hi everyone. This is my first post but i have been reading postings on the site for quite a while and the information and knowledge I have gained has been so valuable.

I recently had valve surgery which resulted in 3rd degree heart block (sinus rythem at first - developed a few days later. AV node not working. I had a Metronic pacemaker implanted. Taser Test For Police Academy

Hello, my name is Kristen and I'm training to become a police officer. I have a pacemaker and I am nervous for the upcoming event of a Taser test. I know that the test is supposed to show how effective the stun of the Taser is; the pain itself doesn't frighten me. What I am worried about is the affect that it will have towards my pacemaker. I was just wondering what my concerns should be? Thank you for your time.

Beep with Biotronik monitor?

I have a Biotronik Entovis DR-T and have the home monitor for a wired phone connection (no cell service here). Over the last few months, I've noticed an occasional beep, that I first thought was coming from my PM. To make sure it wasn't something else, I've checked and even replaced smoke detectors and other devices that could beep. However, the beep always sound close.

Over the last week, I've narrowed it down to either my PM or the home monitor that is near my bed. It beeps only...

Weak heart sounds

Hey!

Been listening to my heart sounds earlier this morning and I couldn't really heart the lub-dub properly. My resting heartrate has been in the 60s bpm from the previous 70-80s bpm. Rate is normal, rhythm bounces from being regular to irregular. Also sometimes have weak pulses.
No other issues such as difficulty of breathing or dizziness.
Was just worried that I exerted too much effort on exercise. Started Focus T25 2 days ago. Didn't have it cleared with my cardio sinc...
