Planting, and my heart let me know

Hi. Finally had a beautiful sunny day so I decided to plant a few flowers in my front garden. Bought 16, but after planting the 8th one I had to stop as my heart was busy "fluttering" and it lasted for a few hours. Am real worried about that. It wasn't so strenuous. Tiny flowers, long handled shovel and I really didn't dig, just kind of moved the earth around, bent over to sit the flower in the space and pushed earth around it to hold it straight. My husband had to finish the job for me. Had my first dual leads pm put in on March 14, so it's only been a bit over 8 weeks ago and I thought I'm finally okay. Did I do some damage? Is it too soon to do these types of things? Please....help.

Not to worry. You didn't do any damage and you didn't do anything wrong. It was an event that you should talk to your doctor about (although it was probably recorded on your PM), but it was likely a harmless event. It isn't unusual to have palpitations and/or a-fib events, because a PM isn't designed to stop them. They are usually harmless. In the past I have had palpitations so bad I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. They were caused mostly by stress & caffeine.

In your case, it is about how often these occur and how they make you feel. It is definitely something that you need to address with your doctor so that you can have peace of mind. If they are occurring frequently and they are disturbing for you then you should do so sooner rather than later.
I wish you the very best!

Don't know why but bending over will sometimes start up my palpitations, also known as PVCs and PACs, as will getting overtired.

They aren't dangerous, but having a bunch in a row will make me feel exhausted.

I doubt if you did any damage to your heart by working in the garden. But if you continue having palpitations, particularly if you didn't have them before, be sure to let your doctor know. Sometimes the pacemaker requires adjustment so that it can optimally assist your heart without interfering with it.

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
