I had a replacement pacer put in 1 week ago. Other one was 10 years old. It was in limp mode for 3 weeks before replacement during that time I was dizzy 24/7. After the new one was put in I felt better right away. The original settings of the old one were programed. My question is I took it easy for a week but as you can see by my name last night I went bowling. 1 week after the surgery. It is an easy surgery and I feel pretty good. However after 1 and 1/2 games I was so tired I could hardly get...

Hi All,
On Thursday I had my first pacemaker fitted. I was handed this piece of paper in the lowest quality plastic sleeve. I was expecting a credit card type thing for it to last as long as the pacemaker itself....
I assume this is the NHS cutting costs. I just wanted to check if everyone else received a similar thing.
Cheers,
Charlie (UK)

My pacemaker is set with parameters of 60-130.
When I walked yesterday I checked my settings to see what range I was in after my walk and I was between 165- 178 for 20 minutes of my walk.
Is this the way my pacemaker works? It allows you to get way above the top setting?
I am just confused about how it works???
Thank you!

Hi everyone, forgive the vagueness of this message but I'm curious if anyone else has had something similar. Here goes.....
I had my gizmo fitted in June 2014 for sinus bradycardia and in general my life has returned to normal. However, on excersion, recently I've been breathless and a bit achy in my chest. I should say that I have AF too which also has been all over the place recently. I haven't had any settings changed or indeed know if any should be changed.
Any advice...

Hi , Suz here,
Had my ICD...CRT-D implanted 11/19/15. Didn't know I had a heart problem until diagnosed June 25,2015 !!! When I met the Carsiologist the first time he was like " WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ?!!!!!
I guess not having any family history of heart problems, and (sic) only being 57, I had no idea...
Did have other health issues, Hypothyroid, and was sent for scans on the thyroid and abdomen. While there, the Tech asked "How come not your HEART too ?"...

My dermatologist has deserted me. He can't do surgery because of my pacemaker ( new as of dec 10) He uses electrocautery to stop bleeding. He hasn't offered any advice as to where to go. Anyone had a similar problem. Would appreciate any advice . I live in the Philadelphia area.
PM Base Rate Increased on Its Own?

I'm new to all this as I just had a St. Jude pm installed in 11 Dec. It was set on 50 bpm as I've had a very slow rate for a long time. The pm worked as expected (base rate always 50) until 11 January when after exercising the base rate seemed to adjust to 60 bpm. The on 13 Jan. after exercise it went to 80 bpm where I am now. I've called my doctor and will have an interrogation on Tuesday. Has anyone ever heard of such an increase done automatically by the pm??
Thanks,
-Pat

A little about me...My name is Charlie and I'm 29 from the UK. After recently undergoing LOTS of tests following what the docs are calling a "Vacant episode" in July, they ruled out a stroke, epilepsy etc. One of the tests was a 7 day ECG and during my follow up with the consultant my husban...

Hello!
I just wanted to introduce ourselves. I'm mama to Lily, a three year old who was paced 5 months ago at 2.5. She is a twin and we discovered her third degree heart block just last year. Things moved very quickly. They do believe it was caught from a virus but some doctors believe from birth. Very confusing but we are doing really well, I'm saying me too :)
Anyway, so happy this community exists and looking forward to hearing and sharing as things arise.

I'm disappointed that after months of having a well behaved heart, AFIB tap danced all over my heart on and off starting at 8 p.m. last night and continued as of 8 a.m.. It was very obvious, pounding in my chest. My BP and heart rate were all over the place--79/55 HR 106, 93/64 HR 111 then 79/55 HR 69. One reading of 75/59 really concerned me. Those readings were taken while I was very sedentary, sitting or lying in bed. My cardiologist took me as a walk in appointment this morning. Now, the...
Question about Pacemaker Reps

I've read several comments on here from people who have mentioned their Pacemaker Representative, and how that rep was available to answer any question they might have. My question is, are these representatives exclusive to certain types or brands of PM's? I have a SJM pm, and I have never been contacted by any SJM representative. Was I supposed to get this info from the doctor before I left the hospital with the device, or was the hospital supposed to contact SJM and give them my contact info?...

Mornin
This IS a good day. I received my new battery . my second ,It was easy & I feel fine . The new Dr. did fine .No new lead this time . He did say that if I need one , at hospital, they not remove that what is attached to the heart. Just add a new lead. That makes me feel better about getting one, Good luck to all,

i) I have just had a pacemaker check. and the estimated remaining battery life has increased from 5 to 8 yrs
ii) I got home and found out that I had won 10 pounds on the lottery
iii) I went for a run to celebrate. I run past a farm where the farmer's dog normally bares its teeth and attempts to jump over a fence to kill me. This morning it just growled and glared at me. Have I found a new friend ?
iv) I switched on the news and Obama says he is goin...

just had my first replacement done yesterday. Very easy. No Pain during the procedure. Went to the hospital at 5:30 am was home by 9:30 am. I was apprehensive also but it was really nothing. I am sore at the incision site and I expect it will take a few days for that to clear up. But even that is not horrible. My other one was in limp mode and I feel so much better with the new one it is a blessing to put up with a little pain. PS Because it was my first replacement and the old one kept me alive...
