My dermatologist has deserted me. He can't do surgery because of my pacemaker ( new as of dec 10) He uses electrocautery to stop bleeding. He hasn't offered any advice as to where to go. Anyone had a similar problem. Would appreciate any advice . I live in the Philadelphia area.

Can be used with care

I had a mole , on my chest about 4 inches from the PM site, removed by a dermatologist a couple of months ago,
She used electrocautery very cautiously , as briefly as possible , and the lowest intensity possible , and I had no problems with the PM or from the bleeding.
Could your dermatologist not suture the wound if he/she is too nervous to use electrocautery ?

Professional forums

There should be "professional forums" on the internet where ONLY professionals can discuss these things..IF this is more than a pipe dream, it could help the medical (and other) fields

There are loads of online forums which are restricted to healthcare professionals . Here in the UK , examples are "doctors.net.uk" and "doc2doc"
I find that forums such as this one from people who have been at the receiving end of their "expertise" to be equally valuable

I know you are frustrated but....

I know you're frustrated but, it would help if you gave us a little information. Nothing in your bio, so I assume you're in the US?
If in the US you can contact your medical insurance company. Ask them for dermatologists in your area. Also ask about electrocautery. First problem solved is if they are covered by your medical insurance. So that minimizes the paperwork. Second problem is knowing they'll be able to help.
Hope you can find someone soon.

Had a small growth on my neck removed and the doc used electrocautery without a problem. I had a shoulder replacement five years ago and they used it during my surgery. They did have a PM rep adjust my PM before and after the surgery.
So it can be done. Please discuss it with your cardiologist.
Sincerely,
David
