Hi , Suz here,
Had my ICD...CRT-D implanted 11/19/15. Didn't know I had a heart problem until diagnosed June 25,2015 !!! When I met the Carsiologist the first time he was like " WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ?!!!!!
I guess not having any family history of heart problems, and (sic) only being 57, I had no idea...
Did have other health issues, Hypothyroid, and was sent for scans on the thyroid and abdomen. While there, the Tech asked "How come not your HEART too ?" What do you say to that ?
As it turns out, that TECH probably saved my life ! I was diagnosed with CHF and cardiomyopathy on both sides! My heart was only working at 15%..
I knew I would need my pacer since June, but the insurance company won't put it in until I wore a "defib" vest for 90 days!
Worst thing I ever had to go through. I work outdoors so the warm weather was rough. Also not being "allowed" to do much wasn't so great either, I am very used to be active,so it was tough.I am self employed so "not working" was and is out of the question.
The pacer seems to be working ok, there was a "hiccup" the first day out, seems that I needed a little less juice than the average person to make mine work...now they have got to figure out a "skipped beat "thing that we are following.
Wish a healed faster, as the scar bugs me, but if the pacer is working and keeping me going...OK
Thank for listening folks..
May you all have "ENOUGH" Suz

Know what you mean about venting. Sometimes you have to get stuff off your chest and the only people who understand are the people with the same problems. We've been there, done that, got the t-shirt, got the hat.
Hang in there. Life is a lot more interesting with the pacemaker.
Like I tell people I meet... Better to be seen than viewed.
Hope everything else goes well for you.
