Shortness of breath

Hi, I'm new to the list. I've had my PM for a week, and am very frustrated by my shortness of breath. Reading through various posts, it seems I'm not alone in this. PM was originally set for 50 night, 60 day. Nurse changed it to 60 continuous. I think it's too high (I was quite comfortable when my bpm was in the low 40s) but it seemed that my heart wanted to take some short vacations. (Hence the PM) But as someone who has had to cope with asthma, I'm finding my current SOB very frustrating. Is t...

Also when I was just five mounts old I had whole in the hart surgery so I'm full of scars. I can feel were the pace maker is and it ices sometimes. I want to know is how would you know if a wire came loose and co...

Pacemaker affecting Pace and distance

I have a Medtronic pacemaker (for bradycardia) and use Garmin's Forerunner 110 watch. I often run with a partner who also has a 110 and even though we run side by side, her pace is always 10-15 seconds faster than mine and her distance is .1-.2 miles farther on a 5-8 mile run. I assumed it was the variability of the watches.

Since I have a couple of 110's, I started wearing them both on runs and learned that the one on my right wrist always showed a faster pace (by about 10 seconds)...

Hernia Surgery...#2???

I'm re-posting this message for any current feedback...thanks!
Good morning,

Anyone with an ICD/CRT-D have experience with hernia surgeries?

I've been stalling for quite awhile because of my CRT-D; my EP doesn't see a problem…other than the CRT-D will be turned off during surgery…with paddles on standby…and of course turned on by a Boston Scientific technician who would be present.

Thanks!

Ron

New PM/ICD

Since the Medtronic 3-lead Consulta I have "worn" since May, 2012 isn't synchronizing my ventricles as advertised, my EP is making plans for me to "trade it in" for a PM/ICD device. I understand it shouldn't be as complex a move compared to my initial placement. I've also read about "Absorbable Antibiotic Envelopes." Anyone here have experience with these "envelopes?"

Thanks,

PM brand - is there a "BEST" one?

I know that the Dr. I choose will help me with this decison -but I would like to hear some feedback from those of you that already have your PM's...I think I remember that there are 3-4 major brands - St Jude's, Medtronic, & Boston Scientific...maybe another? I know St Jude's -in general - has an outstanding reputation - but I'm not familiar with the others.
And do they all have the ability to download information remotely back to the PM clinic?
Thank you for taking time to share...

Children & young adults with PM

I'm wondering what type of PM Dr's have implanted in young children & young adults with complete heart block-but no heart failure & normal ejection fractions...dual chamber (2 leads) or bi-ventricular with 3 leads...and if it's a 2 lead PM -has there been any evidence of cardiomyopathy after long term pacing on one side of the heart? Thank you in advance for your time...

ECG Strain Pattern?

Happy (and safe) New Year's, all!!!
Had a routine annual yesterday with my internist. An ECG showed a "strain pattern" that was explained as consistent with left ventricular hypertrophy, which is associated with stiffening, etc. She advised I watch my BP (it goes up and down right now) and I may end up back on meds for htn.
Am normally not preoccupied with info that did not lead to an immediate referral to an ER or call for paramedics (good sign, right? (smile)). However, this year...

Looking for advice from 40-somethings & younger with a PM

I'm 42 - and have been in complete heart block for a little over a month due to a cardiac ablation for SVT. I've been meeting with Dr's and exploring my options for PMs. Would love to hear from some younger people who have already gone through this...what can I expect? Am I doing the right thing? Have you been able to lead a "normal" life? I'm used to working out 5x/week - high intensity - and that has stopped since this happened - Is the PM the answer to getting my active lifestyle back?...

Chest pressure when riding in the car

I had my pacer put in April 2014. Shortly after that I began having pressure part of the time when riding in the car. Not every time and not when I am driving. Stress test 3 months ago showed nothing. Now I am having some discomfort in my back part of the time. I drove 2 1/2 hours on Thanksgiving and didn't have any pressure. Does anyone else have this same trouble?

Wireless Headphones

I received a set of wireless headphones as a Christmas gift.
I was so excited to use them! I certainly didn't realize that it might not be a good idea with my pacemaker. After about an hour of the headphones randomly buzzing without the phone ringing I realized that it was probably my pacemaker making them buzz. (Sometimes I am just not that quick! )

Has any one else had a problem or is it common knowledge that this might happen?

Just wondering……

up.jawbone

Hi.
I was given an up.jawbone movement/sleep monitor for Christmas and although the manual says nothing about pacemakers it does refer to the emission of radio signals. Does anyone have experience of these gadgets and can they affect pms?

12 weeks post PM and still not fully fit

I'm now 12 weeks post-PM and not sure if I'm supposed to be fully recovered or if its still early days. Mostly I feel fine, but sometimes I just feel generally unwell, very difficult to say exactly what the problem is but it can last all day, or it can disappear after an hour or so. I never had any symptoms prior to the PM, so maybe I'm expecting too much to be feeling like I did previously after only 12 weeks.

I can go for most of the week feeling well, then one day I completely lack...

Happy Holidays Everyone,
It has been a very long time since I wrote, everything has been good. I was wondering if anyone knows if St. Jude takes back an unused home device for ICD> I was sent one 2 years ago, forgot about it.(dr. likes for patients to come in) I did send St. Jude an e-mail asking if they will take it back, box never opened. If they don't, does anyone know where I can donate it to?
