I have a Medtronic dual lead pm. If yours is a single lead pacing the ventricle only then I could understand that it may not sense arrhythmias of the atrium. Hmm. Perhaps someone else who knows more can tell us.
thanks for reply artist and shepheart

Pacemaker and Irregular Heart beat

I had a pacemaker implant because I had a very slow heart rate that prevented the use of medications which would help to control my erratic heart rate/Afib etc. The pacemaker just helps control the BPM (beats per minute) and does not address the problem of irregular heart rates, pounding heart sensations etc. My Afib was diagnosed after wearing a Holter monitor for 30 days. My EP Interrogated my pacemaker during a followup appointment and that also showed the heart rate problems. But other than recording the heart activity, it is my understanding that it does not do anything other than keeping the rate from falling to low. Medications, heart oblations are some of the methods used to address an irregular head rate. I was having irregular heart beats for years before they finally showed up during various tests, so keep after your doctors regarding the sensations you feel. Medication may be necessary and appropriate. When you read some of the other comments here, you will find that there are other young people who experience an irregular heart beat. Hang in there!

They could possibly be premature atrial contractions. I have lots of them, more than 300,000 runs of them over a 6 month period as recorded by my pm. They are usually not considered dangerous in themselves but could be associated with other arrhythmias that may be of concern. Your pm can detect episodes of Afib if they are present.
Always communicate your concerns to your doctors.
The best to you in this new year.
