Many Thanks All

So glad to have found this community and grateful to be able to read your experiences. I'm a very keen cyclist and until a week ago I thought I was fit and healthy. On Sunday however I started blacking out every time I feel asleep (it happened about 12 times before I was admitted to hospital), by Monday I had received a pacemaker and on Tuesday I was discharged. Less than 1 week later and your stories of hope are giving me great comfort - many thanks.

left arm swelling

Having my PM for almost 2 years now. Adjusting well, but have noticed that my left arm, (the side of my PM) is swollen. Not sure if it is PM insertion related. I do get funny twitching, spasm type feeling in my left shoulder. Measuring my bicep and forearm and they are 1/2 cm. larger than my right. I am right handed. Anyone out there in PM land have this problem. There is no pain in my arm. The doctor said that he will be sending my for a nerve study.

New Member Needing Your Advice

Hi all,
So glad that I found this group. I have found reading the posts very helpful.

I was diagnosed with arrhythmias a year ago at age 60--no problems before that. I have had one aflutter ablation and then three ablations for afib and atach. The last three were performed by one of the most well-known EPs in the country.

Unfortunately the atach episodes continue. I have been on a wide variety of meds and none have helped more than a few months. So a pacemaker h...

Showering w/o worry!

Oh NO!!! I have not waited to bathe!!!! hehe!! I bathed right away!! I was just wondering when it was safe to shower w/o worry of getting the PM area wet!!!! I found that remark so funny. I don't think anyone would wait THAT LONG (2 wks) to bathe. That definitely would warrant a HUGE eeeeww!!!! Too funny!! Thanks to everyone for your posts, they were very helpful!!!
Still laughing!!!

Left arm issues

My pacemaker was put in 7/1/14. This was totally a surprise. Went to the Dr. Cause of passing out and was rushed into surgery. Where the pacemaker and I have come to terms with each other and the need for each I was left with a very painful upper left arm and shoulder. I've been told I put up a battle during surgery and had to be heavily sedated. Dr. Says this will pass, but it has just progressed. I'm to the point of demanding an X-ray even though everyone says it will pass. The pocket was diff...

Peace Corps

I graduated college this spring and due to thrilling lack of positive responses from job applications, mainly due to a lack of experience, I am looking into the Peace Corps. Does anybody have any experience in the Peace Corps with a device?

I recently had my first ICD replaced due to low battery and in over 7 years have had zero problems. Obviously I need to talk to my Dr before actually making a decision, but I was just curious if anybody could offer some insight or personal experi...

I had many sycope episodes over the course of 8yrs(always unexplained) was told a bunch of BS from various doctors ex..stay hydrated, eat salty snacks, recognize your signs and symptoms, "you must be athletic" these were all explainations for my heart rate of 44BPM blah blah blah. I had failed a tilt table test only to pass another one 3 mont...

I have a CRT-D device from Boston Scientific. I have cardiomyopathy, LBBB, CHF, and have had by-pass surgery. They say that I am now paced 100% ventricles and 92% in the atria. Can someone explain about the pacing that is done this much? I've never asked the doctor to explain.

PM moving

I have had my pm just over 3 years and in the last few months it seems to be moving. When I turn over on my right side in bed at night it sometimes bulges, it seems it is almost sideways, I can feel the shape of it easily. I feel okay, and have no pain it just looks gross sticking out. Is it okay to leave until my next check up in January.

Showering w/o worry!

Hi everyone!!'

My name is Brenda Davis and I just received my PM about 2 wks. ago. So glad to find this site. I had to have a PM because of a fast heartbeat. Told I had A-Fib. I got a little scared a few days ago when I felt my heart was beginning to race, but became normal again in just a few seconds, so I assume the PM is working to make it normal. Going to have my first checkup since having it put in and assume I will find everything ok, at least that is what I am praying for....
