PM moving

I have had my pm just over 3 years and in the last few months it seems to be moving. When I turn over on my right side in bed at night it sometimes bulges, it seems it is almost sideways, I can feel the shape of it easily. I feel okay, and have no pain it just looks gross sticking out. Is it okay to leave until my next check up in January.

I always recommend getting it checked! Cant do any harm to have the experts check it out!

Good luck.

Moving Pacemaker

by donb - 2014-10-01 07:10:33

Hi Jane, I have had a few pacemakers move around since 1992 as my upper body is not very supportive of growing a nice scar tissue pouch to keep my implants. I have zero fat for protection and I've been way too active with upper body work while running a TV & Appliance business.
You probably should have it checked out as you don't want erosion started along with getting infection going like I have had. As I was 60 years old with my 1st implant and am now 82 and have used up both left & right chest sites. I have my 6th pacemaker in my lower right abdomen where I now finally sport a nice layer of fat for protection along with having my pacemaker again under muscle.
Saw my original Cardiologist this past year & he told me that I probably should never had a chest implant, but rather a belly implant. It's been a year now & never feel having #6. This past year I can sleep left side, right side, on my belly or on my back & never wake up from any discomfort. OH, by the way, almost all early pacemaker implants were done in the abdomen. Presently small children still get belly implants.
