hi there
i just had the procedure done in April. I felt the same way! I am so grateful that I feel better. i don't know your history but my EF was 10! now it's 30and hopefully still climbing.
i used my iPod before and during surgery although i probably didn't hear a thing. i also asked to be given something to calm me before i entered operating room. that helped. i went home the next day.
As lurch said above, it will be fine. it will be over before you know it.
go to bed early:)
Good luck

Tomorrow my CRT D will be two months in. Everything went fine for me and I hope they will for you too.
To be truthful, getting through the soreness of the first two weeks post op was more difficult in retrospect...
good luck

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.

First, welcome! You have come to right place to learn about PM's, ICD's and CRT-D's.
As for the procedure, there really isn't anything to stress over. Typically you go in the morning of the procedure, put on the lovely gown they provide, get an IV started, ride your bed to another room, meet a bunch of people who keep their faces covered, take a nap, wake up a little later, and have entered the world of the electronically enhanced!
You generally spend one night in the hospital, trying to sleep while they are coming in to check on you. Next morning you get an x-ray and go home.
Take some time to look around the site, read the posts and determine what questions you have, then fire away.
There is some body here who has experienced almost everything and can explain from the perspective of those who have gone through it, which, to me, is always better than trying to understand what the doctors are telling you.
Again, please don't stress as it doesn't do any good!
Good luck and let us know a little more about why you are joining our ranks! What brought you to this point?
