Morning people

Been a long time from my last post. Just so much going on around me. Over all, I'm still hanging in there. Really not much of a change. New meds and more older meds. They been treating me like a lab animal. Guess that can be a good thing.LOL

My step Mom just went thru a double transplant for her liver and kidneys 12 days ago. Same hospital I use. She is still hanging in there, but only God knows what her future will be.

Then one of my brothers that had beat lung cancer 4 ye...

shifting pacemaker

I had a Medtronic pacemaker implanted on June 2, 2014. No real problems and feel great. Until now....it appears my pacer, which was implanted IM, is now superficial. My cardiologist says because I am so active the muscle pushed it out. My question is..will reimplanting the pacer deeper in the muscle make a difference or should I just leave it alone? Thanks for any advice.

Kidney stones

So I have a kidney stone that the dr says I won't be able to pass. He suggested the blasting method. Will I be able to have that procedure done since I have a pacemaker? He said something about putting a wand over my pacemaker. What does that mean?
I am also on warfarin. It sure got complicated all at once.

Pulmonary Shunt

Hello out there :)

So 4 months post op STILL extremely short of breath and following a Shunt Test yesterday, today the Pulmonologist called me to tell me that I have a Pulmonary Shunt. This is not like a shunt used to drain fluid, in this case it means that:

Blood can reach the lungs successfully and the alveoli, the tiny air sacks in the lungs, are fully perfused with blood. Oxygen, however, does NOT enter the blood in the normal gas exchange process where carbon dioxide...

Thought I would share, hope you don't mind.

I have lived with my heart "issues" since age 14. Open heart surgery at age 14 and again at 37 with mirtal valve repair and diagnosis of HOCM, and pacemaker at 40. My brother (age 49) who has lived with diabetes since age 13 had a heart attack last November, no previous cardiac issues prior to the heart attack and to make a long story short had 10% heart function after the heart attack and he ended up listed for a transplant and received a new heart on July 1st only 10 days after being listed....

Are these PVC's

My pacemaker has a lower setting of 50. I am sitting at the moment and my pulse is steady but around 42bpm. The heart beats are strong enough too keep me awake. Could I be having constant PVC's or is it just pacing I am feeling.

US News article

Last week Blake passed along a request to interview from a reporter at US News. I was just wondering if anyone else here ended up in the article. I didn't recognize any of the names/stories, but it's hard to tell since most of us don't share a lot of personal information here.

What's this about (part 3)?

Had an EMS run to the ER on 9/9 - dizziness (ENT doc has diagnosed as possible Meniere's - inner ear fluid buildup) tests at the ER showed no cardio or brain issues. No one seemed to be concerned about the occasional shortness of breath. Remote PM download showed some short periods of A-fib - It comes and goes --------- Sad to say, one drug seemed to be effective: Valium. I never thought of myself as exciteable. The random shortness of breath continues. Maybe Primary doc has an idea --- I'll...

how long off work

I am new here. I have not had the surgery yet. I was wondering about the average time off work/general recovery. I am a school janitor. Have to lift small trash cans about 15-20 pounds at most. Can lift them with my other arm and use the left one for balance. I am afraid I might lose the job if I am off too long

Ready for an upgrade!

Hi all, I've been away for quite some time. I had my PM installed 10 years and a month ago when I was 45. I was sitting at my desk a few days ago and started feeling a ticking sensation at the implant site. I called the doc, went in 30 minutes later and found that the PM went into "survival mode" or something like that, basically battery dying, and am having it replaced next week. I still play competitive basketball, tennis and everything I did before after the initial shock most of us go throug...

new member

Just had a pacemaker installed. It was a breeze until 24 hours later when pericarditis raised its ugly head. Wow, I never felt pain like that before and I am 68.

Must pulse dropped to 20 bpm. and I was advised that I essentially lost electrical connection between the atrial and ventricular nodes.

All is well no, 3 weeks post installation and I am Glad to be here and not 6 ft under.

AV Pacing

I do quarterly transmissions of the pacemaker and get response from the doctor. Usually I ask for some information each time such as predicted longevity of the battery, Atrial and Ventricle pacing percentages, etc. For the last 2.5 years all has been stable but the last reading I got a shocking news. My Ventricle pacing was hovering around 4% - 5% but the last reading the Ventricular pacing was 96%. The nurse said that at the next office visit in November she will check the settings and not to w...
