Hi there,
I havn't been feeling great for a couple of weeks so wasn't surprised when my GP said I am in afib, I knew my heart beat was very irregular, he suggested I get in touch with pm clinic and get an appointment with them. They did say one of my leads is not working and they had been keeping a close watch on it. How do others cope with being in afib.
cheers Jane

Hello,
I am trying to find some information regarding the use of the Serrapeptase enzyme. I went to my first pacemaker clinic and was told I had permanent silk sutures holding the pacemaker in place. I had been using the product to supposedly help heal wounds and clear scar tissue. My concern is will the enzyme dissolve the stiches ( Serrapeptase is the enzyme silk worms use to dissolve its cocoon) and are the silk sutures definately in place permanently?
Thank you,
Karl

Hi everyone! I am 29 and had my pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago. I had an ablation for svt and inappropriate sinus tachycardia. A few days after the ablation, I was back in surgery to have a pacemaker placed for bradycardia. One extreme to the other.
I was wondering if anyone on here works in the radiology field? I am wondering if I will be able to return to my previous occupation. I do x-rays and ultrasounds. I do X-rays in the emergency room and also in surgery. MRI is located in my d...

Hi everyone,
Do any of you have home monitors or the ones that attach to a mobile (cell)phone to tell if you are in Afib or not?
Seen them for sale of Amazon and free in USA. Are they worth the $100 or so $'s I would have to pay?
I think I know when I am in Afib but it would be nice to be sure.
Still having problems re medications clashes.
Rheumatoid arthritis meds do not go well with anti coagulants. At the moment still using Flecanide 50 (pill in pocket) approach anoth...

Went for my mammogram today. (my 2nd one) I told the technician I had a pacemaker and she was shocked saying that I'm too young for one (I'm 42) and asked why I had it. Felt like telling her that plenty of people younger than me have one and there's no age requirement but I didn't. At least the left side didn't hurt as much as the right being done. Glad I got it done today too because Wednesday I'm going in for a replacement (new brand and a new lead) so I would have had to wait a little otherwi...

I have a St. Jude pacemaker with 2 leads. It is about 4 months old. I could have sworn I just heard it screech sound from it. Not a beep and screech.
Do pacemakers make a noise for an alert? I may be crazy but just checking.

I have been having treatment, but on having compression traction and something I can only describe as horses homes going over my back my blood pressure shot up to over 200 and 111. On visiting him we managed to bring it down to a point that I came home rather than go to the ER. However not happy with results and my pacemaker is aching. Has anyone else experienced anything like this and advice please. My pressure is now 159/96. Thank you

Just checking in. Really no big changes with me other then dealing with the heat. I'm still hanging in there. Had another echo done. Good thing is my EF hasn't gone down any. The bad thing is that I look at things with not much future or plan anything more then a day or two in advance. That in itself is really pushing me deeper into depression. I been taking Zoloft for a few years, but it really not working anymore. I guess I need to call my doctors on this soon. The 4 walls are closing in on me...

Hello Again. I am six weeks to the day post-op and my pacemaker is pacing away. My atria is beating on it's own 100% and the ventricular lead is pacing 91% of the time. However the issue that started this whole journey has not been resolved at all! I am still short of breath every time I climb stairs or when I bend over and sometimes just reading a book out loud to my little granddaughter. I also have a heavy feeling in my chest pretty much all of the time and I am just really tired of it all....

First, may I thank the club and their regular contributors for all the advice and encouragement they offer for people like myself who spend most evenings on the internet reading the latest comments.Thank you all most sincerely.
I had a St.Judes 5826 Zephyr XL DR PM,fitted in October 2010 and after numerous problems everything seems to be working fine. However, I am now consulting a Maxillofacial specialist regarding a restriction in my parotid gland and to my horror, he said he requires a MR...

It's been awhile since I posted but I am continuing the journey of trying to get help for my syncope. I had a horrible follow up appointment with an EP today. I won't go into a long rant, but he was so condescending and arrogant, I ended up sobbing right there in the exam room. Even then he didn't change his robotic demeanor. I having been looking forward to this appointment so I could discuss the possibility of having an implantable loop recorder, in order to try and catch a syncopal episod...

I know it doesn't really matter, but as I explained before... it does to me. Anyway, I got my diagnosis. SSS with Asystole. In the hospital my pacemaker was "pacing" between 75%-90% of the time. Today it was only 5%!!! He said that except for the fact that my last "pause" was 18 seconds, they may have waited a bit to implant. He also said that with my history I was probably born with it. I have had vasovagal syncope my whole life and he suspects that my body overreacted by adding pauses. So, for...

Hi guys,
It's been a long time since I have been on this website but I can really use your advice.
I was told a couple of days ago that I need a knee replacement on my left knee. I have a Medtronic Secura ICD. I plan on going to the Hospital for Special Surgery which is a specialty orthopedic hospital in New York.
I have so many questions. I know the doctor said they are going to use a ring to turn the ICD off during the surgery. Is that ok to do? What will k...

I have been the lead singer in a band until a year ago. I am feeling well enough now that I may consider performing again. I was told that if I get too close to the speakers, I could pass out. This would be so unattractive... and possibly dangerous!
Are there any musicians out there who have stage experience with speakers and feedback monitors and such? Are your pacemakers okay when you perform? I have a small PA system at home and am wanting to set it up, but would appreciate...

I have had pacemaker for 30 years. I am new to site and think it is a good resource. I have had 2 bad out comes after the first battery replacement . I did change doctors. I have now had a recent battery replacement and a new lead 2days ago. I see there is better post op instructions and am confident this time I will avoid complications

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
