Went for my mammogram today. (my 2nd one) I told the technician I had a pacemaker and she was shocked saying that I'm too young for one (I'm 42) and asked why I had it. Felt like telling her that plenty of people younger than me have one and there's no age requirement but I didn't. At least the left side didn't hurt as much as the right being done. Glad I got it done today too because Wednesday I'm going in for a replacement (new brand and a new lead) so I would have had to wait a little otherwise.

exams important

Although I had a bad experience with mammogram, causing pm wires to shift to left, and now uncomfortable, I would still have one. Also they are not 100%, so self exam is vital. My friend just had mammogram, all ok, but a few days later she had a 'funny' feeling when she took off her bra. After a week of these feelings she returned to GP who ordered another mammogram, then she had an ultrasound, then biopsy as they were unhappy with results, She had a mastectomy and is now starting chemo. She has been urging all friends to self exam and to notice anything slightly unusual. So NiceNiecey, please have one.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
Great

Nice to hear a story about mammography that is uneventful! I decided not to have one this year due to the PM. You've given me courage!
