I was diagnosed with LV cardiomyopathy in April, shortly before my 46th Birthday. I have an EF of 18% and have been building up the dose of medications I have been prescribed, gradually since then.
My resting heart rate prior to taking the meds was in excess of 100/bpm, and is now in the region of 80/bpm on a regular basis. My blood pressure is also within normal range again.
As an added complication I have had re-current DVT's in the past and as such have been taking a...

Just returned from a PM download ------ A good thing about the PM, it tell's you exactly what has happened, when it happened, and how hard it happened. My D/L showed a 9-hour period of A-Fib that began at 11:00 PM Apr. 19, 2014 (I prob. slept thru the event.) In addition, I asked the nurse what was it I felt at around 5:30PM on June 10, 2014. She answered "You had 6 PVC's in a row." All in all, not a bad report.
Next step is a carotid Doppler scan Thursday for Amaurosis Fugax ev...

Thinking about about my need for a pacemaker. I am a 58 year old athlete. I missed a chair while sitting and busted my head open. Two weeks after that I noticed I had lost my breath. I go to lifeline have a screening, then see my doctor, he refers me to Cardiologist. After ekg's ,holter and echo I am diagnosed with 3rd degree heart block. Time for a pm. I have Bradycardia with hr around 40. This kind of sucks. I thought I might not ever break.
Now I get to have a St. Judes, pacemake...

I have pacemaker now for almost 10 months and all seems good. Even started back to gym. I have the slow heart rate/fainting syndrome and pacemaker is set at 55. Most of my pacings are during the night/sleep. During the day I have noticed periods of nausea and weakness that lasts only about 5 minutes and passes. I am wondering if this is the vagal syndrome that is trying to put me down and the pacemaker is "saving" me from further episodes.
Has anyone else had vasovagal reactions after...

It has been 9 weeks since my PM implant and the incision area is still tender. No infection, but my clothing rubs on it, and it hurts. Does this go away in time? A bra strap is very painful. I also feel a prickly sharp feeling at times. Is this normal?
I am new to this group and am very grateful to read all of the supportive posts. Thanks for being here.

Hi, I am 6 weeks post op for a pm. I seem to still be having problems with anxiety. Have been having high blood pressure lately and wondering if that could be because of anxiety. Just a few days ago broke into tears for no reason. Has anyone else experience this. I am so thankful to have the pm because I received it due to complete heart block and thought I would die.I feel I have a great second chance on life so cant explain all these emotions. Have periods of day when I have no problem bu...

I`m wondering if anyone has had an MRI scan when fitted with a PM?
I have second stage AV block and I have a Boston Scientific Altrua 20 and fitted with 1 lead.
Since it was put in 3 years ago (my 3rd PM) I have been 100% sensing, 0% pacing.

Hi everyone. I know I will be getting a pacemaker at some point. It might be sooner rather than later. Does anyone work with a torch? Does that pose any issues? How about an oxygen concentrator? Soldering iron? I do lampworking. Any advice for scuba divers? Also, does anyone feel their pacemaker working? I had a temporary external pacer after my open heart surgery and the docs said I shouldn't be able to feel it working, but I could.

Hi,
I am new to this website and 'club' in general. I am getting a pacemaker this Friday, and am currently breastfeeding my 3 month old son.
I am under the impression from the doctor that I will be 'in and out'- unless there are complications, it doesn't sound like I will be staying the night. He also didn't express any concerns about me breastfeeding. Depending on what anesthetic they give me, I will be not feeding for a certain amount of time, but what I am worried about is f...

Thanks Inga and Jerry.
I have a Boston Scientific PM Ingenio K173 for Brady and Chronotropic Incompetence. On my device report it states Accelerometer: On. Activity threshold medium. Reaction time 30 sec. Recovery time 2 min. Response factor 8. Minute Ventilation sensor: On . Response factor: 3 . I see some of these settings are nominal settings.
Inga - I will try to your method of activating accelerometer via sternum. Question: You said you could raise your HR to the...

Hi
Did anyone have weight loss before getting pacemaker. I did, it was really unexplained, not that I'm complaining. About 40lbs. fell off me several months before the pacemaker.
Gained about 10lbs back.

Hi. Just been for a PM checkup on my Sorin reply DR on Monday last. Due to tiredness and breathlessness the hospital have turned on the rate sensor in an effort to combat this, and have said it may cause increased episodes of Angina which I suffer from. My settings before this were dddr (which means nothing to me). Can any of the tech wizards out there tell me exactly what a "rate Sensor" on this model does and why it could possibly cause more Angina. Up to now it feels a little less stressful...
